I've had WAMU for the past four years, but am now recently dropping them. I sold a vehicle back in July in which the buyer had it financed. I deposited the check and immediately went and bought another vehicle. The buyer failed to fax his loan package with copies of all documentation within 48 hours and CapitalOne revoked the check 5 days later. I noticed the error immediately as I check my account daily. So I immediately contacted the buyer and CapitalOne to see what the problem was. I got with the buyer and had him fax all the info and CapitalOne issued me another check within 24 hours. The branch of Wamu that I went to on Mt. Zion Blvd in Morrow's punk ass Asst. Mgr. sees the check and immediately says I can't deposit it. Stating that it is a dealer only check which is why it was revoked, but the check clearly stated person to person loan. Bastard refused to even check it out. So I go to another location. No luck, the bastard at the previous location had frozen my account. When something as this happens you have to deal with that particular bank to get it worked out. So I go back and then ask to speak to the manager to handle my transaction. Of course prior to the Mgr. coming out the Asst. Mgr. goes to the back and does his thing. So when the Mgr. comes out he has a totally different story however states that they will not allow any more checks to be deposited into my account regardless of the payee. Hello, if I can't deposit a check how can I claim the funds for the vehicle and straighten out my account? The only thing they wanted to discuss is how I'm going to clear the $14,000 defecit I had. Despite Capital One faxing them certification of the funds being available for the check and etc. they refused to accept it. The Mgr stated that they would accept a wire transfer, but Capital One does not provide wire transfers.

End result I had to open an account with another bank and then wait a grueling week for the check to clear since it was a new account. I then took cash to WAMU settled the account. I later tried to transfer money from my Gold account to my free account that I use online. It wouldn't allow me to make the transfer. I called customer service and was told that there was still holds on the account for limited transactions. WTF, why in the hell would I want an account I can't freely use. Not to mention that I had done nothing wrong in the first place. So, I kindly went to the same branch that caused all of the trouble hoping to close the accounts and withdraw every single penny I had in there from the Asst. Mgr. It was his day off but I closed the accounts anyway. WAMU basically treated me as if I defrauded the bank out of $14K with no intention of paying it back.

P.S. Yes the buyer did compensate hansomly for my troubles and loss of a bank service that I once loved. Since I had been with them so long, anytime I deposited a check the funds were immediately available. Hopefully my new bank will extend the same courtesy after a while.
