just wanted to let everyone know of my little adventure today at honda..
So today I realized how badly that the Honda at the mall of GA sucked ass.
Back in may, me and my girl got a 2000 ex. Everything was cool. We paid WAYYY more than it was worth (11k) for a civic with 80k miles on it but I said whatever, $0 down so eh…after the first time I drove it, I noticed something was up…felt like a misfire (found out later that that was true). Anyway, the first time I popped the hood, I notice that all of the screws under the hood holding the fender on, are STRIPPED COMPLETELY. I wasn’t there when my girl got the car so I didn’t test drive it or ask for a carfax or anything so we kind of got screwed cause of impulse so then I find out the car was almost TOTALED according to the accident report I found.
Anyway this wasn’t really a huge issue cause WE fucked up and didn’t do the research, just needed a car at the time so payments with no money down suited us.
Today however, REALLY pissed me off. Recently, I acquired an 86 CRX si but I needed a key cut. So I call Honda up and ask them what I need as far as paperwork and stuff and they tell me they need a 4-digit code off of a key cylinder (either door lock or ignition). So I check the ignition and see 6 numbers so i'm thinking to myself, that can’t be right, so then I pull the driver side lock cylinder out and take it to them. No big deal, I only work 15 minutes away. Get there, guy cuts me a key (believe his name was bill) and I get the key. He tells me “it doesn’t turn this cylinder but I believe this cylinder is bad but the key should crank it and open the other door. Take it and try it out and if you have any problems let us know.” At this point I say “cool man, I don’t care if it works on the locks, just want to get the car running so I can move it at the shop.” So I pay the $7.95 and dip out. Well I get to the shop and try the key. Well it doesn’t work on ANY of the locks. So i’m like crap so now I got to drive back and get another. No big deal STILL at this point just a little frustrated cause I wanted to get it going before I left work.
Here's the fun part. I get back NO MORE than 30 minutes after I left. Another gentleman helps me, they cut another key, STILL doesn’t work and then bill says, “I would venture out to say that this cylinder has been rekeyed before.” I didn’t really care to argue and say no cause the car is a one owner car and the ORIGINAL key got burned up in a houseboat fire which is why I need a new key made. So he comes back with a new receipt and says “my manager voided out the transaction so we can give you your money back” then proceeded to apologize for my wasted time. I say “hey, no problem man, things happen.” So bill goes over and talks to the cashier (believe her name was dawn) and explains to her that due to extenuating (sp) circumstances, they were giving me a cash refund. So she’s all good for it and he walks back into the back. After he goes back to the back again, the cashier is getting my refund when another gentleman wearing glasses with dark brown hair walks by and says something to her. So she goes back in the office next to the cashier desk then comes back and says “i’m sorry sir but were going to mail you a check”. I say “are you serious?” just kind of joking at this point. She goes yes then asked me if I would like to speak with a manager at which point i’m like YEAH! I would. So the manager comes out and gives me some crap and says i’m sorry were going to mail you a check. At this point i’m like WTF “ok so I come in here, buy a part WITH CASH less than an hour ago, it doesn’t work and you cant refund $7.95?” he says something to the effect of “that’s correct” at which point I openly just say “you got to be shitting me. I buy parts here A LOT and my shop buys parts only from here and that’s all you can say is ‘we’ll send you a check?’ I have a car payment here but I wont EVER buy another car here again.” Then he’s like “we appreciate your business.” And i’m like “yeah, I bet but you can’t refund cash from an HOUR ago for a part that DID NOT WORK.” At that point i’m so pissed off I just say “fuck it, keep the money, I don’t care. Its $8 dollars and not worth my time” so then I give the cashier my address and stuff cause she’s still calm (at this point i’m ready to just let off on the cocky, arrogant prick that they call the manager there).
So I go back to the shop, keyless, and told my boss what happened so he calls to figure out what’s up and they give him some shit about how its “store policy” not to give cash refunds for security reasons. So I can go up there and pay with a $50 and get $41 back but they can’t refund $8?? WTF. And on the receipt it says “if for whatever reason you don’t want the part, bring it back for a full refund” I could understand a check for like over $100 but its $8. The manager probably spent more then that on lunch.
So cliffs:
-Honda sold me and my girl a near totaled (completely undisclosed at the time) for about 3k more than what we should have paid
-Today they refuse to give me a $8 refund on a key that DID NOT WORK (cylinders were PERFECT) so instead they are going to send me a check that unless they spend $3 or so on certified, I probably wont see because overego’d manager person overruled a good and fair decision by the parts counter guy. As I said before I could understand a large amount but $8, come on now…
I plan on sending most of this post in an email to the head manager there. Its not the fact its $8 but the fact I wasted time in mall traffic going back and forth and it wasn’t my fault the part didn’t work right and to be fair, the cashier and the parts clerk were VERY helpful ESPECIALLY after I was a ass. If anyone on here works there, please tell the parts guy with the glasses and the gray hair that I appreciate it.
