    Smile This may be the wrong forum...and what!

    I read last night, that 68% of Americans associate "terrorism" with race. But 92%, associate "terrorism" with culture/religion. I was wondering how these stats would fair, in an IA poll. Answer it or die by bombing!!!

    It's unfortunate that the current rash of terrorism has been mainly carried out by radical islamists....becuase the majority of educated middle easterners don't share the same beliefs as the radicals.

    The facts are staggering though. 9/11. WTC (the first time). Bali. Spain train station bombings. UK bombings. Bombings/rocket attacks in Sharm El Sheikh. USS Cole. Attempted shoe bombing. Etc.

    Well, what do you guys think distinguishes a terrorist, from a freedom fighter? Does anyone know much about US Foreign Policy? Do you feel that the US is fighting for freedom and democracy? Is controlled democracy, really democratic?

    not to mention the other conflicts around the world not involving US. Chechneia(sp) when the terrorists shot all of those school children. it's something like 98% involve muslims.
    what I want to know is why the people don't riot in the streets when these terrorists kill innocent people in the name of their religon, but go absolutly ape shit when some dutch guy makes a cartoon with a pic of mohammed. I'd like to hear that 1.

    the difference between freedom fighters and terrorists;
    freedom fighters don't shoot childern in the back to get what they want. they don't behead innocent civilions(sp) on tv. they don't shoot women dead when they run out of a burinig building because they don't have their heads cover. freedom fighters don't take plance full of innocent people, women, childern and fly them into buildings killing thousands. they don't blow up subways, train stations, fire rockets randomly into cities, or local cafe's.
    That is the difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorists.

    these "evil soldiers"(who ever they maybe) act out of their own free will against the orders of their commanders and against the oath they took upon entering their branch of service. the terrorists act together as a whole with the same goals. it is their objective to kill innocent people and to make their religon the dominate and only religon on the planet.
    unless you're talking about Hilter and the Nazis. then I would say almost nothing except the Nazis wanted to spread facism and the terrorists want to enforce islam on everyone. and the terrorists don't have concentration camps they just behead and blow people up.

    what actually constitutes a Muslim though?

    a brown guy with a beard?
    a brown guy with a arabic sounding name?

    Muslims come from many, many different cultures (black, white, asian, hispanic, etc) it is hard to profile a Muslim at all...

    and honestly i don't blame the security officials profiling passengers...i can understand their mentality...i don't like it...but i understand it....

    Not all Muslims are terrorists, but the terrorists we fight are Muslims. If profiling Muslims at airport security checkpoints prevents a terror attack then by all means do it. I'm not Muslim, but if white males ages 18-40 suddenly went nuts and started blowing up airplanes then I wouldn't hesitate to let them search me if they asked. Noone seems to place any blame on the terrorists anymore. Most of the problems people have with the current US foreign policy could be answered if those people would take a step back and ask why they are needed in the first place. Everyone quotes Benjamin Franklin and our other founding fathers not realizing that times have changed. Terrorism as we know it today didn't exist back then. England was their common enemy and they wore red coats. It's not that simple anymore.

    Sorry for the rant.
