I think that this is mostly an ethical problem, and one of many in the medical field....i would hope that in that situation i would have the option of PAS...i recently went to a speech givin by a phsycologist and she was talking about all of the medical ethic problems going on and she didnt talk about this one for to long...she would state an ethical problem and then propose all of the options a doctor/family would have...very interesting....I can see how this would be moral as well but i think that its mostly an ethical problem...and when doctors take the socratic oath i bet alot of them dont believe everything in it....it starts of by saying under zues and all of these other roman gods u will do ur best to heal and protect and not kill..... most doctors dont believe in all of those roman gods, i dont know if they have revised the oath but i know it used to say that. Which is another interesting thing. One doctor at the medicine forum i went to said that it was his "job" to treat the patient to the best of his ability. and if the patient was in so much pain that they wanted to die, he would qoute "gladly" do it...I myself wouldnt want the resposiblity to kill someone no matter what the reason was. But he was talking like he would do it in a heartbeat..... i guess some doctors just fall into a little rut and dont even think about it...interesting
