    Default Starting a Nonprofit Organization

Does anyone knows how to start one up? I am thinking of starting one but do not know how. I am doing research on it but just wanted to know if someone knows anything about them.

I am in the process of doing the same thing. One of the first steps is to get a busines license. The next is to get a mission statement together for your organization so you can start convincing potential members that they should donate to your cause. For the most part it comes down to tax paperwork. You can collect monies for traveling expenses and such if you are promoting your cause.

Mine will be geared toward minorities and women in motorsports. So I would be collecting money to take field trips with children to race shops for example....along with other expenses that the organization would incur. Another thing that I am wanting to collect money for is a bus or large van to tote the children around in.

It's kind of a hard thing to get going. You just have to do your research and network. I am still working on both.

    Good luck with yours

I actually know a gentleman that has his own non profit organization. His name is James Graham. He was the first black driver to drive for the Coors stock Car Team. I also speak with Morty Buckles. He drives a stock car also.

That doesn't help you, but I will nose around and keep up with you.
