There is a flipside to this. SHE never called the police (until the end) to state anything, her family did. Technically, she was not responsible for the man hours and such searching for her because she did not initiate the missing persons claim.
Now, she did (from NM) claim to have been kidnapped and later revoked that claim. I do believe there should be some legal action but I don't think that jail fits the bill here.

She IS very much responsible. She is the only reason for the season sorta speak. But for the fact that she made a decision to take off, none of this would have happened. So she IS very much the culprit and therefore liable for whatever chain of events she set into motion.
BTW, has anyone even thought about the fact that this little hoax has now indirectly placed other people in danger? How? By the mere fact that since this was a HUGE media showcase, now the entire world will be a little less apt to believe subsequent mysterious dissapearances. The ole "Cry Wolf" syndrome.
