Car Sales?

Anyone here work at Carmax or any other automotive sales place? Ive applied to carmax on Indian Trail/Beaver Ruin a couple times...no luck...i havent had any experience in automotive sales...but i want to get into it, maybe its sumthin i will enjoy. I was wondering what the job is like...good pay?...good job to have?

I work at Nalley... a lot of us on here do. Its straight comission unless you work at like DOdge for instance can start you at 3.15 and hr and 30% comission. You really need to start out someplace that is going to have a lot of walk ins so you can build customers or you're not going to be able to pay your bills.

I used to work at Team Nissan of marietta. They started us off with a guarantee of $2000 a month + commission. (i forget what the commission was. i think it was like 20% of the gross profit, plus so much on the back end if they finance it.) There are alot of walk ins, its pretty easy to get because the employee turnover rate is so high. That might be a pretty good place to start if thats something you want to do. I tried going to CarMax but supposedly its real hard to get in. I was like one of the top sellers in Pre-Owned at nissan too.

As far as liking the job goes, it was fun for a little while, but then the management got shifty. I left because the General Sales Manager threatend to fire me cause one of my customers got pissed off and walked out the door because HE printed out the wrong deal sheet for me. It is something you gotta deal with. Those kind of managers are ALL about money. But if you're good at it, just keep at it, dont let them get you down, and it can be very rewarding, especially pre-owned cars.
