tint shops used to put a little sticker in the corner of one of the windows with their name, percentage of tint, and date...otherwise you're supposed to show a reciept, lol...goood luck with that.Originally Posted by Halfwit

from experience the cop wont pull you over just for the tint. The only way that would happen (that the cop would pull you over just for tint) is if the cop is being a dick looking for trouble.
hes rite ya know...............i was running a hatch wen he came out from a gas station..................1

i dont feel like reading all these posts to see if anyone has said it, but there is a tint law because if you get pulled over at night or even day and they are walking up and you have dark ass tinted windows and cant see in your car. they could be walking to some psycho dumbass pointing a gun at him waiting to shoot when he rolls the window down, and not even know it until its to late. thats just was a cop over here told me when i asked him about it.Originally Posted by sina518

it just bothers me when im stopped at a light, doing nothing...and he swings around as im turning, gets within an inch from hitting my car just for my tint. then he gets all touchy feely with my car....then gives me shit for my tag being dirty and my suspension...etc....then next thing you know, a boosted teg w/ what looks like 5 on the windows, almost slammed to the ground, comes screamin by....another civic after that the same thing. its not like i do anything to piss people off. i never just pull up next to someone and rev my shit or get on it just to let people hear my n1.

That means that any MPV (multiPurpose Vehicle) Van, SUV Truck, or vehicles with AWD, are not regulated behind the Driver. School Buses limo's and(c) The provisions of subsection (b) of this Code section shall not apply to:
(6) The rear windshield or the side or door windows, except those windows to the right and left of the driver of:
(A) A multipurpose passenger vehicle;
(B) A school bus, any other bus used for public transportation, and any bus or van owned or leased by any religious or any nonprofit organization duly incorporated under the laws of this state;
(C) Any limousine owned or leased by a public or private entity; or
(D) Any other vehicle, the windows or windshields of which have been tinted or darkened before factory delivery or permitted by federal law or regulation; or
(7) Any law enforcement vehicle.
LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES period are not regulated.
Look we are not the only state with a Tint Law. Some states can't have tint period. Like PA. All automotive tempered glass has between 80%-70% VLT (visible Light Transmition) 70% is the min. that a car will come with from any manufacturer.

oh Yea and Max fine for REPEAT OFFENDER IS $1000 and or a year in jail.
yea my tint is worth that.......
and any shop that is still doing illegal install is a HACK shop not matter what the quality of the install. Why you say. A real professional shop would not need to jeopardize they shops reputation and $1000 and or a year in jail for EVERY OFFECNE, just to make a buck.
lets see how many misdemeanors I can rack up before they (courts, government) take action.(g) Any person who violates subsection (b) or (e) of this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Driving is not a right but a privilege, it can be taken away.

Why do I even care….. just make the money you say ????
Well I have been in business for 8 years, I went through college working. I have a family that I alone support. So our livelihood depends on ME being able to stay in business. If our laws were to reflect something like PA’s laws then my business would be in jeopardy and that is something that I am willing to contribute to with illegal installs and disregard to the LAW.

my homeboy here in charlotte has 5% all the way around on his civic and he gets pulled all the time. but all he does is go to office depot, get a receipt book, and write out a fake receipt with a fake company name saying that the tint was removed. the DA just glances at the receipt and drops the ticket, no questions asked.

Tint laws for police protection:jerkit: It's a dangerous job, they know that when they CHOOSE to do it. Firefighters don't need laws about residential extinguishers, flamable material storage in homes, or houses built of wood because it burns and fails in fires. iirc seat belt laws is ga don't apply to trucks because of some "farm vehicle" nonsense.![]()
actually sweetheart you never know what they are riding in!!!!!!!Originally Posted by blackboi50

Ga code: 40-8-76.1. (a) As used in this Code section, the term 'passenger vehicle' means every motor vehicle designed to carry ten passengers or less and used for the transportation of persons but shall not mean pickup trucks, motorcycles, motor driven cycles, or vehicles equipped for off-road use, provided that the term 'passenger vehicle' includes any sport utility vehicle and also includes pickup trucks for any occupant who is under 18 years of age.
I could foresee this law falling under recension for the same reasons the tint laws did, they are unfairly enforced. Typically pickup trucks fall under a farm exemption, but given that not much of Ga is farm land anymore and the pickup isn't a utilliy vehicle anymore, the law is behind the times and is due for revision. Personally I never wear a seat belt (don't lecture me, I used to work in the 3rd busiest ER in the state), and I guess it's the illegal tint on my windows that keeps the police from noticing.
