ive liked the jobs ive had past and present, but something i always wanted to do was to become a auto specialist. whether its body repair, detailing, motor work, etc. i just want to work with cars. so can anyone give me some advice on how to achieve this. i never seem to have any luck when i apply at certain places. is there a local school or something i can attend? this is what i want my career to be. so any help or advice is highly appreciated.

the only experience ive had is working on them here at my home. changing oil, replacing head gaskets, replacing rotors,brakes,etc. but i want to be certified.

there are plenty of schools out there. most technical school have some sort of automotive division ranging from body work to regular maintanence to race cars.

I think the man wants to get a job not go to school to learn and get certified through it, in other words he has hands on experience. Just keep trying dude, like start off at oil change places like jiffy lube, they always hiring.

well he did ask about schools in the first post
jiffy lube is always hiring, but that job is just changing oil and filters, not really anything special, been there done that, and dont do it
try dealerships, start off as the lube guy and work your way up. you;ll learn a great deal from just watching other mechanics and such

well school wouldnt bother me none. id take the extra time out of my social life to learn. i mean, this is what i want to do. ive been applying at walmart for their Tire & Lube Express position but nothing. but yea, im definately gonna keep tryin

If you are willing to move Lanier Technical College in Oakwood has a program called Motor Vehicle Sports Technology...Its a very good program and learns you the all around about auto's...I've known of people to graduate from this program and get jobs with Petty Enterprizez and Panoz Racing..The opportunities would be endless with it...and I doubt you would have any problem getting a job with it...A good friend of mine just got accepted into it...You have to interview for it and they only take like 26-30 people at a time...so give it a shot...
