    Default Wirless/Cell Phone companies???

    I'm pretty sure i'm moving back to north ga (blue ridge) and there are quite a few wireless companies up there...


    i was wondering who had worked for any of the companies.. mainly VZW or ATT...

    what does it take to get a job there???

    which pays better sales or tech??



    i've got 4 yrs exp in tech support/customer service/some sales....

    was wondering what ya'll thought of working there good/bad...

    I work for sprint. I like it.

    Kinda slow this month, but everything is.

    I sell, I would think if you can sell, and the commission is right, you should be making more money.

    And Tech support is not the same as Technician. There is a lot of training to be a technician.
    I'm just that guy that spends all his time printing.... T-shirts, banners, vinyl, etc.

    well i meant a technician i guess... i'm a technician now too.. just of our dental software.. not of cell phones.. lol..

    jobs are similar people call/come in with something broken or a problem.. and we have to fix it..

    i think i could handle being a technician better than salesman... i could be good at either... but i tend to get a bit nervous trying to sell things.. then again.. if someone comes in wanting a phone and you know the features i guess it wouldn't be too hard to explain phone features/plans..

    Selling a cellphone is the easiest thing to do. It sells itself. It's super easy to narrow down what kind of phone the customer wants, and then you let them choose which phone they want. Most of the phones have the same functions anyways. It comes down to what they wanna spend and which looks best in their eyes.

    AT&T doesn't have technicians in their stores anymore. We sell the phones and have to do some basic troubleshooting (depending on the rep you get, some will do more work than others). I would HATE to do Tech Support over the phone. You will QUICKLY find out how DUMB a lot of customers are.

    i like the field.. just not here... and i don't like atl that much... that's why i'm looking to get out...

    I used to do Teir 3 Customer Care for Cingular.

    you would be suprised how Dumb some Reps are too....

    Oh believe me, no surprise here. Some of the shit I here my co-workers say or do just leaves me like, "did you really just say that dumbshit?"

    Some reps don't know an absolute damn thing, but neither does the customer So they can bullshit the whole thing and the customer won't know the difference. See it everyday of my life

    well cell phone jobs arent too bad. i will tell you one thing though, verizon corporate stores are a pain in the ass to ge onto. and salesare way down lately so i doubt any cell phone stores are gonna be doing alot of hiring. like a month ago att had a hiring freeze going on, but good luck man. cell phone sales isnt hard, but by no means is it a breeze, just alot of stuff to remember, and you do have to deal with pissed off customers( buts thats retail for ya)..

    It's really not that much to remember. Rate plans are pretty much set in stone for YEARS, and if they do change, it's not by much.

    Phones, ALL do bluetooth, camera, and play mp3's, with the exception of one or two, for the cheap bastards. You just gotta know which one's suck and which one's don't. The one's that do, are returned haha.

    AT&T now, with all this wireline bullshit they want us to do, is getting ridiculous. Remember when they rolled out wireline and showed us how wireline WORKED, but not the prices or the information the customers wanted haha. And now they get on our shit for not selling wireline. Fuck you AT&T

    You see my thread in this section? Only three ppl in our store have reached their goal, no one wants a damn home phone. I hear its going up in the next month to 5 submittied orders to stay off of sam.

    I know verizon was hiring a few months back. You can make money with any company, but I would try and get on with verizon b/c they are known to take care of their ppl better than any other provider. But if you want to eventually move up and grow in the company than I would go for att.


    O if any rep even gets on the phone with tier 2 tech support for anything than they should not be selling. If I can't troubleshoot the problem, then I will put the phone in the customer hand and put them on the phone with tech support

    i used to work for vzw and att authorized dealers, i made about 4k a month after tax at att, and 3k a month at vzw on w9

    this was 08 and 07 i worked verizon in 08 and att in 07 ..........i was doing about 50 new activations + about 30-40 upgrades per month at att , and i was selling about 25 new activations and about 25 upgrades at vzw......vzw was 100% commission based and att was 8hr+commisssions..i believe att changed their commissions structure around summer of 08 so i dont think your able to make that much anymore without suffering from chargebacks.......GL definitely a good business....ive moved on and opened my own cellphone store selling tmobile.

    I wish we had 100% commission. The commission structure now is compared to the old one

    i worked for vzw for a couple years..we were doing 100+ acts a month each rep, and barely pulling in anything for money.. i remember when i started 3 years ago, if you werent making 60k+ you were doing something wrong.. oh the good old days
    vzw is a good company, but as with all retail jobs, its political, and the hours blow
