Default Cousin charged in boy's go-cart death

COLUMBUS, Ga. — A 9-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide in the death of his 11-year-old cousin, who died after a go-cart accident.

The boy has also been charged with running a stop sign while driving the go-cart Sunday.

Pierre Collins, who was a passenger in the go-cart, was pronounced brain dead just a few hours after the accident. He was removed from life support Monday.

The 9-year-old was driving the go-cart when he went through a stop sign and collided with a truck, police said.

A 15-year-old, who was driving another go-cart that went through the intersection ahead of the boys, said the truck dragged the go-cart before Collins was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the sidewalk.

The 9-year-old suffered minor cuts and bruises and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. He is currently in the custody of his family, his grandmother said.

No citations are pending against the truck driver, police said.

According to Georgia law, second-degree vehicular homicide is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail or a fine of up to $1,000.
Whoa, you can charge a 9 year old for a moving violation? At least he can still plead Nolo again by the time he's legal to drive!
