if you are 21 you can have a gun in the car as long as it isnt concealed.
i thought you could have a concealed weapon anywhere as long as it takes you three steps before you are able to fire.
just read the book my stepdad has, and with no permit you have to have it in a passenger seat or on the dash, doesn't matter where the clip is.
and thats if you dont have a permit.

if u dont have a permit, u can carry a handgun IF the gun is unloaded and clip out. wat they did with me was i had it in the glove compartment with the clip in they just ran it to see if it was stolen, nope. took out the clip and let me ride free with it in my trunk.
this is someones interpretation of the law... who would trust about.com lol lexis-nexis IS the law.Originally Posted by bafbrian

well, i tell you all what, have a gun in the seat and the clip in the trunk( asone person posted) and see what good it does you. that IS NOT the law, everyone can google **** all they want but if i had a scanner i could put the **** blunty in front of you. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE CLIP OUT OF THE GUN. AS LONG AS ITS IN CLEAR VIEW you can have it in the car. plain and simple. and btw my uncle is gbi and he confirmed this with me over the phone.
Just get a permit, then you won't have these problems.
This is about 2-1/2 years old. I don't think things have changed much since. It might be kinda hard to read.....I found it folded up on a drawer.
This is as large as photobucket will host, otherwise it would be bigger.
i wouldnt be posting up 2 1/2 year old laws when they have change a few times and are about to change again. since there is a bill up for a vote soon...Originally Posted by Init2winit
but you could save all these issues and get a permit and get the laws in paper when you get it... but i guess 50$ for fulton and a 6 month wait is to big of a problem so you go and ask IA.... lol

Listen to the redneck.
In a nutshell. Under 21/over 21. As long as your 18, without a permit, here is the law.
In plain sight, gun and clip can be one. Out of sight, gun and clip must be separate.

I got pulled over about a month ago. My gun was in the clove compartment and both of my clips was in the middle console. Cop came up to my car and asked for my insurance card, and i told him nicely that it is in my glove compartment and my gun is in there also and im not opening up cause i dont want you to shot me. He ask me to get out the car searched me and ran the serial numbers on my gun cause i didnt have a permit. Gun came back clean he handed it back to me and said " have a nice day sir"

for ridiculous sh*t being said in this thread. moved bc it was in the wrong section to begin with.
if you want to know the laws and specifically the ramifications of HB89 and it's effect on carrying in a vehicle, go here:
http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2...ltext/hb89.htm
but what most of you dumbasses are looking for is this tidbit:
(e) This Code section shall not forbid any person who is not among those enumerated as ineligible for a license under Code Section 16-11-129 from transporting a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle.
which essentially says that anyone who can legally obtain a GFL can carry ANYWHERE in their car.
I own a gun, im cool

That law has been amended in the last few months, do you remember the big uproar it caused in the AJC?Originally Posted by Mr. KiDD
