Default Your take on this ticket I received.

    {I am not bitching about my ticket just asking for your opinion}

My parents are moving to back to GA (they currently stay in Kansas City, MO). With them having multiple vehicles, I decided to fly out and drive one back (Harley Davidson F150). So after getting up at 2am, I got on the road. I set the cruise control to "what I believe was 80mph" (only 10mph over the speed limit), and cruised though Missouri and Illinois. So once I got in Kentucky, out of a group of 5 cars I get pulled over (I'm upset because I was in the middle of the pack, and I was going only 10 over). The crazy thing is the cop runs out onto the middle of the hwy causing everyone to slams on brakes (coming to a complete stop on the hwy WTF) and then points to me. So I pull over and he tells me I was clocked going 11mph over (I'm thinking wtf). After sitting for 10mins, he comes back with ticket. I ask the officer how many mph do they tend to give. He replies 10mph (I'm really pissed inside now). So I ask the officer for a warning since I was only going 1mph over his grace speed and that with a non digital speedo, it's hard to determine between 80 and 81mph. He smartly relied "Not today". Cool with me right, but here's the kicker. Since I was signing the ticket while I was talking to him I wasn't paying too much attention to it. But after I drove off, I look at the paper with the price of the ticket (around $210) and was amazed. Something didn't add up. So I look at the ticket and the cop change the mph on it (different from what he told me). He pulled me over doing 11mph over the speed limit, but wrote the ticket up for 12 over. I don't know how they break down their pricing in that county but 1mph can drastically change the price of a speeding ticket.

So here's the break down of why I believe I go pulled over.
-I was pulled over due to being out of state (the MO using front and rear plates while KY uses only rear (I believe), so he knew I wasn't from there and wouldn't fight it.)
-My vehicle stood out the most (new truck with chrome rims)

So do you think I have any chance if I shocked them and showed up for court? He did write the wrong speed down (which I should of caught ) and put not only his self but my life in jeopardy by running onto the hwy like a fool. If don't goto court, I'm still going to try to get in touch with the judge and talk to him (long shot but never know). I just want to see your take on the situation.

hmmmm. As far as him changing the speed, Its his word against yours. The Judge will always believe the cop. As far as the difference between 11mph and 12mph, I dont think that will make a difference. If it was 14mph - 15mph, That might have made a difference. If you are able to make it to court, I say do it. The chances he even shows up are slim since he knows you are out of state. Basicly, I would go to court and do my damndest to fight it. I wouldnt say not guilty, but tell them exactly what you did and exactly what happened to try to drop the price. If you have to take time off work or school, I would say F it though.

btw, that seems extreamly high for 11 over.

    Good luck man

just pay it and get on with your life. do you really feel like driving to Ky to fight a $200 ticket? you were speeding and you got a speeding ticket. the whole "grace period thing" is up to the officer's discretion.

I didnt think about the driving part....W/gas prices the way they are, you would probably spend more money going back and forth than you would save (maybe) by getting the fine lowered. As much as I like to stick it to the man, you might be better off just mailing a check. You would probably just be even more pissed off on the way back if they dont lower the fine.

$200 to a college student is alot!

Yeah, you're right, but the only reason why that was an option is because I'm proud LOL. Speeding really isn't the point of this thread (I can man up when in the wrong), but it's the fact that he wrote the wrong the speed down (which could change the amount of the ticket). More than likely I'm going to try to get in touch with a judge and if that doesn't work **** it and pay it.

i mean, you gotta take into account how much it's gonna cost you to drive out to that state, and then add the $210 for the ticket ontop of that incase you dont win it. with the gas prices we have today, you're likely to spend ALOT just getting out there with the CHANCE that the ticket might be dropped/reduced.

plus, if ur taking the rex out there next time, you'd stand out even more w/ that exhaust! lol profiling FTL!!!!!!!!!

It doesnt matter if you sign it or not. By signing, all you are doing is saying that you got a copy of it.

I know if you dont sign it they'll call their SGT. out there and place you under arrest, figured you are signing it saying you accept that you were clocked at w/e speed over AND recieved a copy, but anyways what I was getting too was his word against the officers.

Just pay it. Ive had a few friends get out of state tickets and mailed them in, and never showed on their insurance or Ga driving record.

tickets dont get reported unless they are 15 or more so just pay it and save the gas. I just paid $250 for a 15 over ticket in loganville but I went to court and they droped the speed to only 5 over and I just paid the fine, and $100 of it is the judge applying the second offense penalty which is $100 for every ticket of that nature that you have gotten in the last 3 years.

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.
