My point was (as if it wasn't obvious by my initial post) that there are two sides to this "debate." Neither side will convince the other of what THEY believe. This topic has been beat to hell, worldwide, for years. Nothing new will come of it.

reps!! it is true an intelligence failure that big should never happen. Especially on our end. Has anybody really been o the capital? There were planes all over the place there when i went in 2000 i stayed the summer out there, same on '01 when i went to visit family there. that airspace is paced with military 24/7 you cant tell me some dude got lucky enough to make it through that security that easily without there being an inside man or somebody seriously slipping that hard. it may have been a set up but i bet they didnt expect this much. the real question is how is it that nobody seems to realize that we went from Osama to Saddam and hardly anybody raised a question about it til after we tore Iraq a new one? fyi... Building 7 was a truss structure that was built weaker due to an electrical substation that was under it. The substation was built with a footing designed to hold a building much smaller then what building 7 ended up being. In order to accommodate this larger structure on a smaller footing, they used trusses. There is an old saying in the fire department, “never trust a truss”, as they are weaker structures. TO make matters even worse the fire department was ineffective at fighting the fire in the building because they had lost such a significant number of their force when the towers collapsed.
When the fire department is referring to pulling a building, they mean, “pulling the plug” or “pulling out”. Basically meaning that they were going to cease to even attempt to fight the fire any longer, cut their losses, and allow the fire to consume the structure until it failed on its own.
If that doesnt explain how/why WTC7 fell, then the next step is to blame Isaac Newton for inventing gravity.

Every day it is getting more and more dangerous with fires burning hotter due to the use of synthetic materials that put off more BTUs coupled with the combination of cheaper building using light weight construction, mainly the truss. Charlston, SC firefighters battled their commercial fire in a light-weight truss constructed commercial structure that failed in just 30 minutes! I know many brothers can remember back in the 1970s battling fires for hours in structures due to their solid heavy construction, however those days are over. I can only see our industry going towards fighting fires from the outside as long as there is no life hazard. It is just too dangers anymore, so as safety stand down week passes hopefully we have gotten a real good idea of the dangers of our job and just how dangerous it is fighting fires in light weight construction as well as what we interpret as just easily getting off a ladder. Hopefully these very tragic incidents will show us just how important is is to look at safety.
I can not say all was tragic this week, seeing my cousin graduating probie school! My cousin will join myself on Engine 33-12 and continue our family tradition of firefighting. As the lead instructor said at the ceremony, “Welcome to the greatest profession on earth” and this is by far still true. I just hope my brothers have a safe stand-down week and continue to stay safe. Remember: “Never Trust a Truss!”

ok with 9/11 i believe its like this we knew. Clinton knew. Read the report. They've been going back and forth on Osama for years. We had him in our sights damn near prosecuted him but ultimately let him go. I think it was truly a reap what you sow situation from the 80's when al Quiada was formed. As for the last plane that crashed in pennsylvannia. Yeah i got news for ya it was shot down. truly look at the wreckage. If the damn plane hit the ground all that jet fuel loulda left a decent crater and there would have been larger wreckage left on the ground. every report i saw there was debris but not nearly as large as it should have been on a plane that size. besides honestly do you really think the govt would let a hijacked plane near the white house? Get real they made a judgement call. I personally belive they didnt think we were goin to get hit like that but still a major lapse in judgement like that is a lil difficult to swallow considering the technology we have and how tightly we guard our airspace especially in DC. somethin was just fishy to me. Now the war on the other hand is simple economics. Look back in history. The majority of the time when the economy is headed for a downturn we go into some sort of armed conflict. WWII despite pearl harbor we fought hard and it created jobs, Desert storm, and now Iraq. the economy was down maybe not as bad as the depression or now but still armed conflict followed. It happens once a generation really. Just my thoughts on it

I'm not trying to say Bush did it or anything but there are so many holes in the explanation that's been given. It's pretty hard for me to be the average ignorant American and ignor facts like this. The U.S. needs to stay out of foreign affairs that have no immediate national security threat to us which would cause us to take military action for many reason. One of which being that we have a tendency to make enemies as we “fight for the greater good”. Case in point, Osama Bin Laden and the Attacks on 9/11. Osama Bin Laden’s hatred for the U.S. did not come overnight however; it did begin over 20 years ago during the Invasion of Afghanistan by Russia during the Cold War. On July 3rd, 1979 President Carter signed an order to secretly aid the Afghanistan Rebel’s to push out the Russian’s(Intervention). In an interview ten years ago the then head of the CIA was asked if he regretted supporting Islamic Radicalists to which he responded “What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?” (Intervention). It is during this time that he founded Al Qaeda and began setting up training camps in Afghanistan which resulted in the recruitment and training of 5,000 members creating cells in 50 countries across the globe(Who Is). At the end of the Soviet invasion he moved back to Saudi Arabia to join his family and their construction company. His stay there however did not last long due largely in part of the fact that the 1993 bombings of the World Trade Center buildings were linked to Al Qaeda. The link resulted in the loss of his citizenship in that country and being disowned by his own family. Al Qaeda over this time grew in numbers and strength and the attacks became worse. His new strength came from new relationships with a Lebanese terrorist who was wanted for kidnappings named Imad Mugniyah, and an Egyptian named Ayman Zawahiri(Who Is). By 1998 he had been linked to several embassy bombings in Africa and finally the precursor to 9/11 the attacks on the U.S.S. Cole(Who Is).

I can't believe you made a thread about this. I mean seriously... do you really think that George Bush had something to do with 9/11???? All the REAL evidence says that it was Al Qaeda all the way. There was some evidence that Al Qaeda was planning "something" but there was really no way to prevent it. I mean what was the government supposed to do? They had no idea what form of attack that the terrorists were planning.
Osama Bin Laden has been a known anti-US radical muslim for at least 20 years. Bill Clinton had the opportunity to have bin laden dealth with, but he decided not to. I could say that 9/11 was clinton's fault for not intervening with bin laden in the first place.
They are called conspiracies for a reason... because they are not proven to be true.

The whole butterfly effect of this has been brewing since the late 80's when Osama went to Afghanistan to fight the Soviets with his vast wealth and embraced radical fundamentalism Islam. He was kicked out of multiple countries and moved back to Afghanistan. He allied himself with the just forming Taliban and helped them gain control of the country. 2 days before 9/11 Osama tricked the last big opposer (who could do anything) to the Taliban in having an interview. During that interview, one of the cameras exploded and killed the last threat to Mullah Omar.
Its pretty clear that Al-Qaeda is responsible for it. His groups was responsible for most of the terrorist acts in the past 15 years across the world. Its also clear that he is hiding in Pakistan where the USA cant legally go or is dead, or is in a giant glass bubble on the floor of the Indian Ocean.
He is a crazy man. It is what happens when crazy people get money and have an influence. He has even been disowned by his family.

My sister is a captain in the US Air Force in Military Intel, my father served 33 years in the Air Force, I have severeal Uncles/Aunts/Cousins in the military. etc etc etc... and they dont think there is anything fishy about the terroristic activities that took place.
