First, were you or were you not late?

Second, if you weren't, you should have proof (i.e. cancelled checks, bank statement(s)) and therefore you can prove when you paid your rent.

Third, hindsight is always 20/20, so next time get everything agreed to IN WRITTING. Don't settle for "it'll be aight..." because as you can see it can bite you in the behind. If they won't give it to you in writting, you know they're up to no good.

Finally, you have a set amount of time to respond to the dispossesory notice. Dispute it and explain briefly why. Return it and wait for a court date. In the meantime, be sure you pay your future rents on time no matter what until you get your day in court.

You may also try to go over Mgmt's head to corporate if there is such a thing in that company.
