Incase you havent heard, the minimum wage is supposed to go up to $7 and some change in the future.

better than 5.15 an hr.
Well just how much should you pay a guy that cooks french fries, whch really translates into how much do you want to pay for french fries.
Hmmm true. but you gotta think these jobs pay rate has to go up because people are getting tired of settling for less amount of pay for such a demanding job. Somebody has to take out your trash, Somebody has to repair tires. So in order to keep these people around you have to throw bait out there and a better pay rate to keep them around with the company. Otherwise people will quit the job they are in invest in some type of education or training for a different field. And now a spot or spots are empty at another company that may very well take some weeks and money to get filled again. I just want on a tangent with this one lol. I could go hours and hours. MACRO ECON. lol.
true true, good point.
Thanks i appreciate that. lol. Its true though u know. life is about principles and how well we can bend and bump the system.
The market will dictate the pay rate. When there arent enough people willing to work for a set price, that price will automatically start to go up. There is no need to artificially inflate pay rates with a minimum wage.
On top of that if you give your lowest level workers a pay raise of say 20% you are going to have to give all of your employees a similar pay raise in order to maintain pay equity.
Again this translates into higher prices for everything and inflation for everyone. This most assuredly equals a bad thing.
Besides who really makes minimum wage today?

when they raise the min wage EVERYTHING will raise in price over time
heres a simple example for you
grocery store now has to pay employees atleast 7.25/hr so how are they going to avoid losses? thats right children, raise the price of their good they sell![]()
so no matter how much you think this is "bait" it will be just as low in a few years once prices rise
just watch youll be paying more for milk, oil changes, movie tickets, dvds, etc.

It is expensive as fuck to live In alaska, 50 bucks a carton for smokes, 5 bucks a 12 pack for sodas, a buck 50 for 20 oz bottles of soda, its all more expensive. My rent on a 3 bedroom appt is 1250 per month.
I could care less what minimum wage is cause Ill never get a job that only pays it.

Why does everything have ot go up in price. Houses used to be built so strong at such a cheap price so they say, but then again a long time ago money amount may be what it is today in our terms.
we;; back where i use to live miniwage is at 7.36 b4 i moved and has gone up since. but everything else was going up but miniwage. so basically there moveing with the economy not the economy moving with the wage. i dunno if that made sense but ya. like prices are going up or going to stay the same just there be more money in peoples pockets.Originally Posted by morris
you cant live off of 5.15. not even if your a teen age, with gas prices and stuff.
yea but you dont get paid minimum wage so your salary will probaly stay the same and then everything gets more expensive due to inflation. maybe you should care a little bitOriginally Posted by bdydrpdmazda
Sorry its kind of diffucult to understand your point.Originally Posted by Sibsr20
There is a concept in Economics called monetary supply prices cannot stay the same if you increase wages across the board. The more money in the economy the less value it has which makes the price of an item go up even more.
This is called inflation and it is generally a bad thing.
The intent was never and still isnt that a person should live off of minimum wage.Originally Posted by Sibsr20

2) Businesses raise they're prices to accomodate the raise in pay. Inflation rate accelerates.
3) Due to inflation, people start complaining that 7.25 isn't enough anymore.
4) Minimum wage is raised to 9.50, inflation rate continues to accelerate.
See where this is going? This was not the correct solution.
All this time the dollar's exchange rate is dropping. Eventually our economy will crash, again. Guess who will take the blunt of the crash? Lower income families.
If minimum wage is not enough, then people should get off thier a$$ and find a better job or go to school. There are plenty of $30k+++ a year jobs for people without college educations. Problem is people are lazy.
