    Default MainstreaM and a 72 Celica

    After wrestling with title issues on a 73 and 74, I decided to buy another with proper paperwork. About the same time Santos posted this one up for sale.

    PIcs:

    Being loaded up, Anyone see it on it's journey across the country.

    Arrived today.

    It came on a large multi-car transporter that just happened to have a lowrider Lincoln Town Car with hydraulics above it. Needless to say, the Celica has been thoroughly rust proofed by hydraulic oil leaking from the Lincoln.

    Plans for now are to order some flares and front/rear TRD style spoilers then send it off for bodywork and paint. Meanwhile figure out the drivetrain and suspension using the 74 as a template.

    2000 with all the rare, expensive, 72 specific parts. Flat tail-lights, pre-crash (smiley) bumpers, long hood vents, etc. No engine though. A true 72 restored will bring lots more than 73-74's.

    Lot's going on this spring and haven't had much time to work on it. I did however get a few things for it. Five lug rear axle and LSD, five lug front conversion, W58 trans swap, and this:

    Nice and shiny 18RG with Mikuni carbs. Has a couple of burnt valves so the head will need a refresh. Thinkin it never got converted to run on unleaded.

    Keep forgetting to take pics. The engine is here. It's complete and ready to drop in with the exception of one thing. Compression. It goes like this:
    1 = 0
    2 = 30
    3 = 0
    4 = 0
    This was expected though. It is a pre-unleaded engine that didn't have the lead substitute added to the modern unleaded fuel. Needless to say it's going to need valve guides and seats at a minimum.
