Went junkyard hunting again. I got a rear sway bar for the Cutlass, Got both Foward seat belt assembly (kinda bad but better then mine) and a Radio face trim. Overall a good time. Im really hunting a special VERY RARE Aluminium piece. If I find it, I will have every lightweight part from the factory. Sad part is that there is one at the yard BUT it is in a Fire damaged car and its destoryed.

I think Jakes pass on it after we got done talking. Things like that, the head "should" be sent to be resurfaced and pressure tested. And they wanted this to be a weekend job. Kinda alot of work really. And since Jake dont live there. And only goes there on the weekends. I think it was best to pass. Especially never doing anything like this before. I dont think it worth the risk on a inference motor

eh, I blew the headgasket in my coupe before on my old motor and didn't have it resurfaced... If it didn't overheat, then it probably isn't warped.
Also, what are the problems that are being described? The main part of doing a head gasket is getting the TQ specs correct on the head bolts. It's definitely not a hard job.
If they are unsure if it is a headgasket or not, put a funnel in the radiator where the cap is, turn on the car and let it run until the fan comes on... If the headgasket is blown, there should be bubbles in the funnel.
I would probably do the something. If it was MY engine (also I would have the tools to make sure the head to tru also tho). But getting the head resurface and pressure tested is a good practice. And too easy. Not worth replacing the head gasket to find out the head was wrap or wont seal correctly. Not arguring but its kinda like to me, like replacing a clutch without a replacing the throwbearing.Quote:
