Default FWD Engine in RWD Car...

...Or vice-versa. I've never seen this before, like a K20 in a S2K or a F20 in a RSX. What I want to know is "Is it possible"? There's extra stuff in a FWD engine for the drivetrain in the front, at least I think. I know that you'll have to modify some stuff, as you do with a normal swap, but is it possible?

the ultima GTR uses an LS1 with a porche tranny to make it Mid Engine RWD.

They do that a lot with cars.

I've seen people take the block of an SR20VE which is FWD and mate it to a RWD car.

it can be done, just it may be smarter with time/money to use an already FWD motor in a FWD car and RWD in a RWD car.

There are quite a few 240 guys doing the VQ swap. Most are using Maxima motors (they are WAY cheaper than the 350z motors) and using a 350z tranny.

I remember when people were swapping cadillac northstar V8's into pontiac fiero's (its a mid-engine RWD car). I can't remember what trannies they were using though.

What company was that that built the CRX with the NSX engine and drivetrain in the back a few years ago? That was a sick swap!

And speaking of sick swaps, my new favorite is Full Race's R14. Its an S14 chassis with a Skyline GTR R32 complete AWD setup and RB26.

One of the best I think so far. IS the MR-2 newest one of them having the K20 in them. There's one dude who has one on Super Street...but she imagine having that engine on the light body with RWD. Sweet.

    What makes an engine fwd?

I think you mean they use a transaxle.

There was also that tiburon that had a 2 turbo engines and trannies. One in the front and one in the back and was AWD. Saw a vid of him doing an all-wheel burnout with one tranny in reverse and one in drive.

The Lotus uses Toyota and Honda engines which are 'FWD' engines.

Ariel Atom uses Honda and GM engines.

    I've seen a mid-engine Toyota MR-2 Spyder using a Honda K20 engine also.

On another forum, I saw a guy making a mid-engine Integra using the Prelude H22 motor.

It's not unheard of, just unorthodox.
