H22 build...
k here's the deal.. I'm getting a bare H22 block and a complete head from a friend who owes me some money, but has no cash, so I told him I'd take the motor. This works for me because I'm wanting to move up to an H22 anyways for ye ol' del Sol. Couple of conversation topics about the build that will be ensuing...
1. I'm eventually going to be boosting it, but for now it will be n/a, so I need a build that will be a good build for the eventual boost, but will also make decent power n/a. What kind of compression numbers should I look for?
2. The head is complete, so I'm not too worried about it right now. It's mainly the bottom end (rods, pistons, etc) that I'm gonna be delving into right now. I don't want to sleeve the motor if I can avoid it, but if I have to I have to. I'd rather not, though... what brand combinations do you guys suggest for the guts?
3. (Prelude people) should I look for a H22 trans, or is there a better trans out there for this motor? I considered doing the H2B kit, but that's a pain in the ass to do, so I'm looking for a lude transmission... I know in the B series world, the type r trans is the desired one, cause of the limited slip. Which trans should I look for? Any of 'em limited slip? if not, I know I can buy a diff for them, but I would prefer to keep build time down since I'm in school.
4. What axles do you guys recommend? Everyone who I've talked to who has put an H22 in a del Sol has said to go aftermarket on axles. Just wondering what the common favorite here is.
My budget on the build is gonna be around $1500, so I can't do anything totally outrageous (yet). As I said, the main concern is the guts. I can worry about headwork later on, once the motor is in and running. I'm just trying to do all the stuff that is a pain in the ass to do with the motor in the car.
Thanks! Stay tuned for updates on my quest to own the fastest del Sol on the east coast! (thank GOD Matt Stover sold his del Sol lmao)
Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.
