I have an auto tranny. The older preludes came with an amazingly responsive and quicker shifting auto tranny. Its true you lose power and there are other downsides with an auto but I've pretty much learned out to work around them. I'm easily able to keep up with experienced manual drivers on some of the mountain runs i've been on.
But then again, I would probably, most undoubtedly do better with a manual transmission. But many people are ill-informed into thinking that there is no possible way an automatic transmission can perform well.
More skills than you can handle... mountain wa subarashii desu ne... honto.

hope we start seeing more and more paddle shifters
To me it depends on what car your getting. But either is fine tho.

Depends what car your gonna get though.. If your gonna get a automatic and race with it.. Then say goodbye to your tranny.. Automatic is just for relaxing and cruising around. But I still prefer Manual =) Lot more fun.
Correct me if I'm wrong but, nowadays cars with automatics are faster than manuals. Wasnt the Supra like this too? Top end drag racers use automatic.
As for personal experience, there are both the good and the bad. I can control my speed with a manual opposed to an automatic because your controls are right there. I find myself lazy and get sick and tired of driving a manual. I say get one so you can experience it and fit in with the "cool" people on IA lol
manual all the way!
what kinda car do you want? what will you use it for?
i have 2 manual transmission cars. they are both sports cars and used for racing.
but if you want like a sedan or luxury vehicle....get an automatic.
hmm no fun in auto and no dumping the clutch but you could always neutral drop
Yeah. Do that and see how long your tranny lasts.Originally Posted by santacruz77
