Default New to the 240 fam

I've always owned honda, so I decided to try something else. It is a 1989 240sx black coupe. What do you guys think I should do? or any tips or anything I should know . Thanks

Well then sorry to ask questions in ur thread bro, but what about opinions on building the KA? Should I build b/c its stronger than the SR or should I just go SR and save a couple of bucks?

Well the KA has a stronger block and whatnot for turbo.... sr20 is best swap.... if you wanna be unique then ka-T would be nice and build it up.... im just a person who knows little knowledge on cars... ask some of the shops they should be able to give you full description in detail

if ur gonna boost the KA atleast get a DOHC motor..... then again if you're gonna go through all that trouble might as hell get an SR20....get an LSD,,,make it nice and simple... if you have a hatch... get some 180sx kouki parts for it.. like some kouki 180sx side skirts, rear valances, keep the pop ups and do a sleepy eye, get the kouki front bumper and you're set. if you got the coupe basically do the same thing but get everything that the silvia has, like the rear valances, side skirts, and kouki front bumper.... keep it clean... as for wheels get some low offset wheels with a nice width, please dont through some FWD offset on it. just look around on these forums.... 240sxforums.com zilvia.net nicoclub.com club240.com there are alot more... just read around...

Don't sleepy eye an s13. It looks trashy.

If you want real advice, get an origin kit, get kouki tails if you have a hatch. Get decent paint, and some wheels witha nice offset.

LS1 is the engine out of a camaro/transam/corvette. The engine costs between $3-5k then you'd have to either buy or make custom crossmembers. The total cost would end up being close to $10k. But you'd have 300+hp/tq on a N/A engine with good gas mileage and reliablity...not to mention you'd be faster than 85% of the cars on the streets (normal cars + modded ones...SR, RB, KA-T as well ).

Personally, Im going KA-T. I wouldn't say the KA-T isn't unique anymore, just that it's becoming more common. Still not as common as just swapping a "sr20" in it.

You don't HAVE to get a dohc to go KA-T, but the parts for it are more available for a dohc. I have a 90 (sohc) and Im having a hard time finding a decent manifold/dumpipe setup without spending an arm and a leg.

anyone that wants their car to be "unique," "an extension of my personality,"
blah blah BS" just has a helluva inferiority complex. cars are not unique, if you want to be unique take a bus to get to places, ride a bike. on the other hand, if you want to be fast, get some good tires and spend the money on seat time. best advice ever.
Please tell me if you think my car looks good. But don't tell me if you think it's ugly - only on IA

Dude, just...stop. You really don't know what you're talking about. And if you need your car to be unique, you really have some issues to work out. Having a unique car sucks, because that means there's nobody else to help you with issues that pop up. If you did something unique with your car, its probably because whatever you chose to do was a poor idea for some reason and nobody else would want to do it in the first place. If you really want to be unique though, I think the GA16 would be a first for a swap into a 240, and its a Nissan engine to boot!r

the LS1 would cost more than an RB/SR of similar horsepower, and i already saw someone say an RB is too expensive. it also requires a ton of fabrication, there are no bolt on solutions for the swap so the few running around are all a little different. if you have a shop do it prepare to pay big money.

240sx and "unique" just don't go together, no matter what you do with it... it's been done.
