excellent starter car, but there are traction issues with the srt, or FF for that matter. if you gain traction you are a beast...BUT if you want my opinion, you would be better off getting a WRX or STI, with the same mods and AWD the sub rules..IMO

you mean a stock STI?? possibility but i still would boost a srt up that much, my boy has one and got beat up while he was running high boost stock turbo by a EVO VII(i believe). srt is more bang for the buck when you get that traction under control

They are fast, but suspension upgrades are a must.

the car is built ok, turbo seems to start blowing oil after awhile, other than that its pretty much a cheap alternative to a car that can be quite fast.

SRT-4s are for having fun in straight lines and roll ons.

WRXs/STIs for having fun in straight lines and twisties

srt-4 are great for the $$ 2.4l turbo stock they boost 15lbs.

run AROUND a 14.1- 14.4 stock but depends on driver.

    spools quickly and holds power.

If you like drag racing, go with the SRT-4. It's fast on the straight-line but handles like a cow on skates. Not sure how the aftermarket for suspension is for them but if you're like the typical Super Ricer Transport guys, then you'll be spending on your money on power-upgrades anyway.

For a more balanced package, I'd get a WRX. Good power and handling.

The AWD the WRX provides is nice, but the power the SRT-4 delivers is also really nice.

After about 300whp, the WRX transmission is just waiting to shatter.

Stock block SRT-4s can make 450-500whp on their stock blocks/heads. Not to mention the extra .4 liters of displacement will help with spool.

If you plan on doing only minor bolt-ons, go for the WRX. If you plan on eventually building the car to make it fast, get the SRT-4.

If you shift too hard, the shift knob will pop off. It scared me the first time.

lol, it pissed me off the first time I did that. Then I went to order the shift knob replacement from modernperformance.com and it was backordered like 2 months >.<

SRT4 is still stuck on a FWD platform. Lots of power on FWD = teh suck

I'm not complaining too much, lol.

FWD isn't the best platform to go with, but it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

My Azenis RT-615s at 25psi tire pressure hook really nicely. I drive my car on pump gas at 500whp and don't spin in 3rd much at all. Most races I come across are from a roll on the interstate anyways. When do you ever run from a dig at a redlight? Not sure about you, but I rarely ever line up with anything worth running at a stop.

i love mine! check www.srtforums.com for ALL the info u will ever and never will need. as far as traction goes if u get motormounts and traction bars it helps ALOT. suspension wise they are kinda shitty so before i got used to stock power i got hotchis sway bar set w/ bushings, DC sports strut tower bars front and rear and eibach springs, that helped alot, takes corners great now.

Yeah the suspension comes with Tokico struts...soo its not complete shit..I put Eibach springs on and handles pretty damn good..of course not super car status but there brakes are..comparable to porsche and were tested with water in the lines racing pike's peak and held fine Lake Effect Racing won 1st place in class in "Car and Drivers 1 Lap" event 2 years ago..and placed 14th overall this year (out of over 100 cars) and he built his in his garage at home. So power to weight and the ability to keep it reliable over the ever breaking tranny's in EVO's and STI's with the engine capable of up to 500WHP on the stock iron block and internals for the $ can't be beat. I use traction bars and mounts with a new clutch and never snapped an axle or tranny. (knock on wood)

I still love how people point out the little flaws. Suspension sucks? OK 25$ motor mount inserts, 125$ sway bars problem fixed. Rear windows not manual. God knows when I go looking for a car thats the first thing I check. And the leaking oil thing isnt true. It has blow bye vapors that will condense on the outside of the intercooler hose. Every oil change I have to wipe off about 3 drops. The traction thing is true though an evo or sti are alot better from a dig.
