    Default Stupid fast car build...

ok, as some know i'm planning to get rid of the integra. I want something that i can work on in the spare time, fabricate one of a kind parts, and most importantly be absolutely insanely stupid fast. I don't really care it if won't get traction the first 3 gears...i'll just put it in 4th

The donor, a bmw 2002....it might be fugly to some but don't really care. It's extremely light and even the eldest of old farts respect it. First thought was to figure out the ultimate bimmer swap for it, without a doubt would be the 250+ hp S14 (E30 M3) engine. Price: lololol, nm...scratch that option Second option, M20...2 liter with tons of torque from the e30 3 series...and add a turbo. It's still an option, pricing it out now.

The other direction, probably be cheaper in the long run and quite possibly be one of a kind...

SR20DET w/ a GT28rs and a mild build putting out a conservative 280-300hp. Power to weight ratio would be 15% better than a dodge viper and 80% greater than S2000. With those numbers a 4.0 second 0-60 is possible...as long as it gets traction

OR the 3S-GE BEAMS blacktop puts out nearly as much power as the 3S-GTE from the MR2 Turbo, minus the turbo's and added on dual VVT-i. If i can find this swap out of a Altezza RS200 z-edition it will come with a 6 speed gearbox. Once it's in and all fabbed up i'll look into dropping the stock 11.5:1 compression and adding a turbo....until then i'd settle for 210hp 6 speed in a 2,000lb car. Power to weight ratio 20% greater than an S2000 and halfway between a Porsche Carrera and C6 Vette...0-60 right at 5.0 seconds.

The only problem i forsee so far is the rear end...will most likely need a custom driveshaft and don't have a clue about a differential. There is no possible way the stock bimmer rearend will handle that amount of power but i think the e30 may bolt up to it. Maybe just need something completely differant and off the wall to make it work

So what you are basically saying is that you want to be Jay G?

    My god, I have a 2002 with a hopped up M10 and had an s14 with a sr and a gt28rs.

    Eh, anyway go to 2002faq.com

I have a 4.10 rear in mine and I like it, should handle around 300.

    M10? That's around 100hp right? I was thinking about the 2.5L M20...

So tell me, what would you think about the SR in the '02...i'm not worried about traction, tires and suspension down the road will help that out.

An m10 with a good carb feels nice in the car. For fast, I wouldn't do the sr in a it. Part blasphemy, part waste. You can do an e30 m3 swap for about 5k and all motor thats fast.

Injected tii swap with a turbo OR e30 OR M10 with schrick cam/ nice carb/header/piano top high compression pistons (what I'm doing) OR the 2.5l swap (It's OK, most swaps are nasty and the feel supposedly isn't as intense as the high revving m10 or e30.)

EDIT: There is going to be a 2002 meet at the vortex on aug 20th ish. Me and another guy are getting it together.Should be around 10-15 of us hopefully. Also Global Imports may have us at some point. I'll let you know if you want to come down and check out some other 02s and get ideas.

Out of the sr20det and 3sge beams choices I would have to ask why the beams if your gonna boost it anyways? Might as well go with the more common/less expensive 3sgte which is a GREAT motor btw Or just the sr20(which from what I've heard are VERY cheap to mod). IMO the beams engine is not worth the hassle/money. SPECIALLY if your gonna boost it.

EDIT** Oops... I guess 6 speed would be nice...

Depends on the cost, just wanting a quick car on a low budget...or low budget for how quick it is.

You can make a big brake kit with Volvo 240 hubs and early 320i calipers. Hell my 76 has 4piston calipers in the front stock. Work pretty nicely too.

Anyway, I drive mine everyday and garage the galant for the most part but eventually when I get myhigh compression motor in I'll have 140ish to the wheels in a super light car that handles well. Fun for the mountains and autox. So thats my goal. To go fast I have the vr4 and I would be semi scared to have more than 200 whp in an 02.
I'm not worried about being moral with it. No matter what BMW engine i put it in there will always be one that is more power, cleaner, etc...not into competing, i just want something original, differant, and possibly one of a kind.

For the brakes i'll do a kit with the same porsche calipers i have on the teg....i'm in love with that setup.

As for the car and power, I want to be scared of it. I want it to scare me every single time i get in it. I'm looking forward to it.

    ^^ LS1 240?

hmm, just to throw out another option, G54B's can be had for chump change. Stop all the oil leaks and replace the seals and such and youre good to go. Good for 300whp on its stock TBI injection setup.

HiPSI could telll you about going MPI tho...

Hrmm...find me a better caliper than my Brembo aluminum monoblocks...change the pads in under 30 seconds and rebuild kits are $12.00 (have yet to see one need rebuilding though) The hottest spot on my brake setup ran 50°-150° less than the coolest spot on 8 other cars on a mountain run...

Just barely. I havent seen very many straight 6s been pulled off in them.

If you want something just retarded fast and don't care. Get a mighty max motor (rwd 4g63) build it, put on a big turbo and have 600 to the wheels.

There is a guy on galantvr4.org named bimmubishi who has a 91 318i with that setup putting about 350 to the wheels. Parts are easy to come by and that motor is indestructable. I beat on mine with a cracked turbine housing and shitty tune with no worries. Brent Rau is the fastest 4 cyl with that setup too.

I dont know to just go really fast I dont think the 2002 is best candidate. Quick and nimble with great stopping, yes. 600hp beast? Um I don't know.

Also is this the first turbo car you would have? The BMW is the first NA car i've ever had and I kinda like it.

There is a few 500-600hp 2002's I'm just looking for a reliable 300hp! It will be beat to death at track days and drift events.

Plan is to form a simple one piece carbon fiber dash across the width of the car only containing the necessary [VDO] guages and switches. A digital cluster would be perfect but not for the $1,500+ price they run On the passenger side of the dash i want remote resovoirs for the fluids and I'd love to have floor actuated pedals and i think i know where a complete setup is

Probably put a Momo cup seat in it (there's a spare at the shop) and due to my height i want it just about sitting on the floor with only some sort of energy absorbing polyurethane bushings inbetween...just salvage those from some retired motor mounts All the interior should be sprayed a plain semi-gloss grey or satin black with only carbon fiber and/or aluminum details and a bucket full of rivets to put it all together...i think too much, i really should try sleeping

You just want 300 hp? That's not scary fast! Even with the weight, it wont transfer like a blistering fast car since it will be spinning. Once it hooks up, 300 wont be Vette killing or anything.

Stick with a 4cyl turbo setup then. Build an M10 and do a blow through turbo carb setup or round up a tii injected motor and do the same thing.

ok the BEAMS is a good idea but turbo'ing it would cost more than its worth. finding a blacktop BEAMS is hard enough as it is. they can be modded to the high 200's low 300's N/A on TRD parts alone though. another really cool option would be to go with a 4agte. basically this is a 4agze (supercharged 4ag) with all the SC parts taken off and a huge turbo slapped on (the GZE block is bullet proof!!) its got forged crank and rods factory and a 8.0/1 Cr cast pistons(like the sr20) so lots of boost!!. turbo'ed they have made past 400whp and the motors are VERY light compared to a 3SGE and will spin alot higher. if you find that later AE101 GZE they have a slightly higher Compression (8.9/1) along with some other minor adj. and if your looking to make more tq you can swap the block/crank from a 5af motor and a porsche 928 timing chain and you got a 5ag strocker kit! this will all also be VERY CHEAP!! GZE short block $300-$400!

An m10 is the stock motor. I don't know the code for the 318i motor.

All stock manuals are 4 speed but you can easily put in an early 80s 5 speed. (As many people do)

    An m10:

bmw folks, some will hound you and some will love it.

i remember being at Formula D where they had the rb26 converted mustang.. it was shunned by some, but others thought it was cool!

Something stupid fast and cheap would be a toyota corolla or miata with either a turbo rotary, S2000 motor, or SR20.

if you REALLY want something INSANE fast, drop a turbo 3-rotor into a 1st gen Rx-7!

Hell, a turbo 3-rotor in anything sub-3K lbs. is bound to be hella-fast!

I didnt say anything about 240s and i dont disagree they are a bandwagon. And its common sense that good cars become popular. I guess u can see it as an insult but whatever.

And if the "good" cars become popular, explain civics and srt4s.
