Default Minor Wheel damage, opinions please

I was driving across my friends lawn (its the only way to get in and out of his house) and i hit a pretty deep hole which knicked my rear and front rim, its mostly on the inside of the wheel where the tire touches it, which i dont understand, and the outer ring is slightly damaged too. Is it possible to wet sand it with 2000 or 1000 grit sand paper to make the roughness go down, i just dont want it to feel all rugged, I know if I fix that it will probably minimize the scraping look. The hole even took a chunk out of my tire, its craziness. The scrape on on the wheel is only around 1/2 an inch, which indicates i literally fell in and out of a hole, help me

lol, 1000-2000 grit sandpaper wont do shit to metal. You need at least 240 and move up.

1000-2000 is finer grit than toothpaste, you'll probably want to use a rotary tool to smooth it out then maybe work your way up on sandpaper unti lthe finish is matched.
