    Default Question for those who drift

    This one has been on my mind lately.. it actually came up on a conversation with Charles (ct9a gsr)

    Is it possible to have a car setup for both drag and drift? I imagine with a setup like this the car would not necessarily be perfect for either but what I'm looking for is a happy medium. The question really pertains to turbo'd cars..

    Another question I have is.. having a high amount of horsepower kind of (for lack of better words) cheating if you're just starting out? I'm assuming it makes breaking the rear end loose really easy and requires less skill.

    Just soften up the rear and you got a drag car. Stiffen it up for drift, easy fix. As for horsepower, I'd like to see you try and control a high horsepower car, you wouldn't be cheating.

    lol, I got a lot of people telling me to slow down in the Datsun at Drift Fury. Guess I was going in super hot. Car launches like a rocket with it's power but doesn't have power steering. It's definitely not a Miata.

    I thinking that with some good throttle control a big HP car can do good. You sure as hell can't just slam the gas and turn though. Good luck either way you decide to go about it.

    tiger racing s13, SILVIADRIFTER 2JZ S13.. IU HAVE SEEN THEM BOTH AT THE STRIP AND DRIFT. oops..

    tiger i think was running 12s, when the silviadrifter was running 11s.. and they both drifted awesome-ly.

    You can do both with good suspension, hell with about 3k worth of tein's you can do it while in the car If you want to be completly perfect instead of just a quick fix it is possible to get all the right components and change it over to fully drift or drag it can be done in a few hours... removal of strut bars, changing spring rates.. so on.

    About the highhorsepower thing, It may be easier to break the rear end with the power but drifting isnt about breaking out the rear end. Its about keeping it under control while the ass is sliding.
