My experience is somewhat slim on the RB motors, but most the parts are going to be somewhat exclusive since only few places import the stuff, and no-one that I know of makes parts in the US for that motor. Hard to get parts (low demand) usually cost a lot more than they should. Put an SR20 in there or maybe an RB20 (those are more common).

rb25 is kinda of a waste of time and money, either go rb26 or rb20. rb20 in a s14 is weird tho so go sr or ka-t.

we were talking about this today.

for $8000 you could do a 2JZ swap in a S14 , motor, labor, fabrication. you would have a 350whp/350TQ swap that would be able to make 600whp with a few more mods.

    S14 SHell $2000
    2JZGTE Swap $2500
Turbo Dave Fabrications 2JZ swap $4000
    -Mounts
    -Driveshaft
    -SAFC
    -Wiring
    -Radiator
    -Tune

    OR

    S14 SHell $2000
    SR20 Swap $2200
    SAFC $200
    Turbo $700
    Manifold $500
    Injectors an fuel rail $500
    Downpipe $120
    Exhaust $350

you can do it for that much im sure. $7000 including the car will push it, unless you do all the work yourself.

anybody that has ever modded cars can tell u that u will never get the money u invest in a car back when u sell it. so the most cost efficient way is to buy a s14 which has already been swapped. this is very risky though because u never know if the swap was done properly, how many miles are really on the motor, etc... if you are going to do the swap yourself, then you might not want to take that risk and just do the whole swap yourself, its up to you. but if you are going to pay a shop to do all the work, i would just get a car that already has been swapped.

as for which motor to get, it doesnt really matter. sr20s and ka-ts can both be very reliable or very unreliable, it all depends if it was done right, and they have about the same hp potential. i would personally go ka-t since the parts are cheaper and easier to get. if u only have 7gs to spend then i would not go rb.

$2000 for the s14 shell is kinda unrealistic if its in good shape and complete. you are probably going to have to sacrifice some of your mods into getting a s14, or you can get a s13 and have more to spend on performance.

I found a 240sx for $350 once, but was to broke to grab it. It had a moldy interior, new paint, blown headgasket, bad radiator. All it needed was gutted interior, new seats and steering wheel, fix the engine and buff the paint.

Usually you can just happen upon good deals. I was driving through the apt complex when I saw this car.... It was just sitting there all dirty and the tires were low. I asked the kids nearby and one said it was her mom's.

your all a bunch of fucking retards. if you put an rb20 in an s14 you should be castrated. a ka-t is the cheapest easiest way to get 200whp in an s14. sr20 is not bad, but your going to pay through the nose for more than 300whp. the 2jz sounds like a good idea till he explains to you that your getting an auto, which isnt bad cause if you buy a good torque converter then it'll lay down like 500whp with no problems. if its a manual for $2500 be warey, the good manual trans you want to make big power is $2500. the 25 is a good swap, costs the same as a 20 swap but you get more. if your shooting for more than 400hp you need to swap out the pistons and do some other upgrades to the oiling system, but youd have to do that to the 20 too. i've had a ka an sr and an rb25 in my 14. the rb25 is far and away the best of the 3 and i did it for almost exactly half of a serious offer someone made me about a week ago.

do the ka-t, keep it under 250whp, and you'll be straight.
