    Default Buy a MKIII or a S13/S14

    I have around 5k which should I get a...
-MKIII supra with, targa, turbo, 5 speed
-S13/S14 and throw a RB engine of sometime in it later down the road and drag that bitch.

Im really leaning towards the MKIII but they are so hard to find with the targa, turbo, 5 speed. And with so many 240's riding around it would be nice to pick one up cheap and the just use the extra money to buy whatever i wanted for it.

    Whats your input on it.

mkIII is more unique, faster stock, and targa top is nice, but weighs way too much. will never handle/drift as well as a 240 can, and a 240 can be just as fast if not faster as any mkIII. 7mgtes also blow headgaskets like crazy.

If you change the headgasket, do the Lexus AFM, send the turbo down to Majestic, and put on an exhaust, you can get about 350 rwhp/375rwtq out of the Supra. Otherwise, it is slow because of the weight.

I own a mk3. I love mine. It will be going under 1jz construction this summer. Just make sure you change the oil in them. Or the rod will come a'knockin

i would say supra merely because its different and as its been stated, everybody has 240s. i got rid of mine (240) and got my fc rx7 and im much happier with it than i was with my 240 just because of the fact that u dont see them very often and its nice to have somthing that still turns heads a little bit. in that sense i say supra all the way. performance-wise tho, 240sx (i'll at least admit that). my friend is waiting for his rb26 to come in (stuck in customs) right now and once that thing is in his cars gonna be nasty. hes been running an rb20 tho and he was putting down 3 somthing at the rear wheels on a rough tune. they're really great cars and i did love my 240 as my daily driver but i just didnt like that everybody has them and a lot of guys that had em didnt no anything about what they had because they only got it because its the bandwagon thing to do right now. (no offense to anybody, i think you all know the kinds of people im talking about)

OK now here is advice from someone who has driven both cars...

For dd purposes... I'd take the mk3 supra any day. In stock form it's is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. The seats and steering wheel are completely adjustable for a comfortable cockpit and the turbo model has enough torque to pass at lower rpm. My ONLY complaint is that the 5speed trannys tend to be a little notchy.

I'm not saying the 240 isn't comfortable or lacks power, but the mk3 supra is 3500lbs for a reason. Luxury my friend... luxury.

Reliability on the supra will depend on past owners, but as long as you don't try to push push 12 or so lbs of boost, the stock head-gasket should be alright. While there are cases where the gasket will blow in stock form, most of the guys you hear from start recklessly cranking up the boost on an engine that has 150k+ miles. What do you THINK is going to happen? ... 240s in my experience are amazingly reliable.

For drag purposes... let's not kid ourselves... Neither of these cars are exactly what I'd consider drag queens... I'd give the nod to a 88-93 5.0 mustang. ha.

Autox/drift/road race... I'd definitely grab a 240 because it is light and extremely well balanced. While there are quite a few guys that use the supra, you see a lot more 240s... Probably because the parts are cheaper and more readily available. i know that's why i am in the process of looking for a 240.

I have auto-crossed the supra... I put down some pretty decent times for my class. Definitely a strong tendency to over-steer.

I'm not going to tell you which you should buy... If i were you I'd test drive both cars and formulate an opinion based upon personal experience.
