    Default Transmission debate...

What's better with a turbo....longer or shorter gears? and why? GS-R vs. ITR gearbox.

Llonger = better (generally speaking). It really only comes into play (in my opinon) on larger turbos though. For a small turbo w/ quick spool, stick w/ what you got. And cost/availability is why the GSR gears are chosen over the ITR.

For drag racing....with all things being equal... itr 1-3 and gsr 4th.

Look at chuck seitsinger...he runs B16/ITR 1-3 and GSR 4th and runs low 8's.

you also want to look at what rpm you will fall into when u upshift and if its within ur powerband.

Chuck won it ALL against mofos w/ the XTRAC ($10,000 tranny) too. But he was rebuilding after EVERY event. When I was stationed in Oklahoma City (97 - 00) He was a nobody... he worked at the Honda dealership in the parts department!! LOL

i would say stock GSR final drive.

Gear ShiftRPM Speed @ 11000 RPM
    1st N/A 59.9
    2nd 6471 101.8
    3rd 7874 142.2
    4th 8363 187.0
    5th 8372 245.7
RPM in top gear at 70 mph: 3134

Thats what he usually traps in 4th so stock gsr final drive

you're on street tires and only reving up to 8680rpm. He's reving his up to 11,000rpm with 26" slicks.

If you rev yours up higher and bigger slicks you can do it too...maybe not in the 1/4 but eventually LOL.... unless you have 1200+whp
