    Default gsr swap

    i have a stock 94 teg ls, 130,000. how much does a gsr swap with labor usually go for like at mainstream or batlground. i was just thinking of building the motor i have now but not too sure, looking to get around 180-190whp. ive tried searching the forums on gsr swaps but didnt find too much.

    I would expect to spend around 3500 give or take a few hundred. It depends some on whether it's a usdm or Jdm motor. Vteckidd (Mainstream) should be around soon and give you a more exact price but that's a rough guess. To hit 180-190 invest in a good header. RMF or Mainstream is going to be making their own header that will be tested for power to ensure peak numbers, the mainstream will be a very good alternative. Then I would look at Skunk2Pro2 cams or Rocket motorsports M22 cams. I would go with Rocket Motorsports valvetrain either way. Maybe some omnipower flat face valves. Then go with an Obd1 conversion and run a chipped p28 to tune with. That should get you to 180+. Of course there are a few other little things that I didn't add in but those would be the major hard parts along with intake,intake manifold, and exhaust. Good luck. If you are serious about wanting to do it there is no one better to take you through it than Vteckidd and Mainstream performance.

    ive thought of doing it but not sure if 130,000 is too many miles. would that effect the performance that much? and i heard you could really damage the engine since the ls bottom is weak revving at high rpms with vtec. not sure if id want to go with a conversion at such high miles but dont know what problems can occur.

    you could get some ARP rod bolts and rev higher. If u want to rev high i would just go with the a GSR swap to eliminate dwn time of putting rods in ur ls mtr.

    shit he'd spend way more on a gsr swap.....but he gonna have down time either way...... hows your tranny and motor run?? if u go gsr swap i will buy your ls block and tranny if it dont grind!!

    cough::ls/vtec boosted::cough

    btw i was thinking rebuild the bottom end and do ls/vtec, then you'll have a rebuilt block with 0 miles which is way better then some high milege gsr!....

    I was kind of thinking the same thing. Go with forged rods/pistons and do a ls/vtec swap with cams etc. You'll probably end up spending less money than the GSR swap and have a much stronger motor that can handle future boost/nitrous. I told Vteckidd about this thread, he should be checking in today to give his opinion and give you a little more exact figure on the money it would take to do either. Good luck.

    Yea I think Ls/Vtec will be cheaper, faster, and more reliable if built right. Plus you could sell me your LS tranny, LoL.....either that or a trade plus cash on your part for my ITR or GSR, lol...........yea see what mike thinks!
