    Default NITROUS OXIDE. whats safe??

    I have a stock ls block about 40-50k on it, si head port polish 3 angle valve job. I have been wanting to try some nitrous out. whats safe for this set up. I was thinking a wet 50 shot, untuned would be okay, for a little extra kick. And im not goin to be spraying this like crazy. Just at the track or on the street if I feel like making someone feel bad.LOL jk never happens.

    50-75 depending on what the nitrous kit manufacture says. basically follow the directions of what the nitrous manufacture recommends for a particular nitrous hp shot.

    yes if you follow the guidlines...ie, retarding ur ignition, colder plugs, etc...

    dang... i really dont know alot about this stuff.. i know its dangerous no matter what. tuned or not. but i cant use the regular NGK vpower plugs. and when you say retard my ignition, do you mean just move the dizzy, or get cam gear and adjust that way? Is there somewhere i can read up on this stuff?

    its only dangerous if you abuse it and using it is not abusing it. just follow the rules i know there are kits that have built in saftey features including fuel pressure and timing adjustments.msd makes good stuff for your timing needs you could go with cam gears but the amount your talking about using is so little i really think a simple ignition timing control of some kind that only comes on when your system is armed will do the job and a fmu or a fuel pressure regulator oh yeah dont for get your cooler plugs and if your running a 5speed trans a w.o.t switch if its an auto trans use a rpm window switch. i sprayed my formula with a 100 shot (wet) and never had a problem except a bottle just wouldnt stay full long enough for me, you should get 2 bottles

    Use bcpr7es plugs go to nopi there like 2 bucks each. Just turn your dizzy a little bit for a 50 shot I wouldn't even worry about retarding the timing that much.

    30. dollars for one 10lb bottle, jeez, now what would i need to do to a ls block to make it handle more than 50 shot. would i need just pistons and rods and rod bolt, and new bearings.

    See i planed by the end of the year i would buy a b18c5 motor form hmotors. then work on getting todo cams and valvetrain, but i also was thinking bout building a block and either runing alot of nitrous or alot of boost. I cant make up my mind though, but for now i would like a 50 shot.

    i think it would handle a 75 shot (wet) just fine. i think you should build your block for boost i like nitrous but when the bottle is empty no more power with a turbo that power is always there.why not just turbo the motor you have at a low boost like 5-7 psi???

    SO i could do 75 shot just fine on my block with out burning up the motor. I've been told my piston rings will burn up or something and that nitrous shortens the life of the motor, but i only look at having the motor by the end of the year.

    So i have been reading Zex.com and there are EFI, 4-6 cyl, and 4cyl direct port.

    Now i know directport goes to each cyl on the IM. no does the regular kit not direct port, where does that hook up and is it as safe as getting direct port., I have no clue about EFI either.

    from what ive read and heard, Zex kits run lean... personaly i liek NX

    I have the Nitrous express custom EFI stage 1 wet kit and am currently running a 35 shot. my 35 shot actualy gave me a 50whp increase, and ~45tqe increase. We also tried using the 50 shot but i was leaning out a little bit and i dont want to do ANY dmg to my motor EVER. so we left it at 35

    Its a great power adder, specialy for someone like me who drives the car everyday and only uses the button every so often.

    SUGGESTION, get the basic kit and the accessory kit that comes with all your bottle pressure safety switches and crap, plus you'll probably need the blowdown tube(properply vented) to run at a track. Also a bottle warmer helps for those cold Atlanta nights. and whats nitrous without purge?

    my kit, accessory pkg and purge valve maybe cost me..... 700? and ive got more tqe than most of the turboed or supercharged people that have my motor still!!

    just install it correctly, double check your wiring and get your AF checked. good luck

    Hey, i run a zex's dry 75 shot on my jdm b20 with header intake exhaust and skunk 2 intake man. i put it on the dyno where i used to work and i put down 167HP, and 16? T untuned.. my air fuels were so dangerious. like 18.0's and up. so i added a safc and tunned it and gained another 30 hp. its a totally different car. definitly get it tunned or your motors not going to last. but if its tuned man dont worry about anything. its all about getting enough fuel.

    BTW, just thought i would add. ZEX was orignally made to work best and for bikes. but, they still work good for cars

    I'm running 75 shot NOS wet kit on a stock LS.
    Only mod i did for this was got some colder plugs and lowered to a 55 shot jet for my fuel solenoid because it was spittin too much too much fuel.

    Anything over 75 shot i recommend you do more as stated in previous posts.
