    Default gsr

i am wanting to get a lightly modded integra or an si... and i have the money saved up to put some power to it when i get it.
i am not real good with motor stuff..
i imagine whatever i do get will already have small things such as exhaust and intake..etc...
if i go with a gsr... turbo or supercharger and why?
or am i better off going with an ls?

    same with si?

i do not know much and my friends are to much of "know it alls" for me to listen to them so could someone help me out a little please?

    thanks trey

If you have the money to spend, definitly start w/ a gsr. It has more power to start with and the ability to rev out farther.

You will be able to get more power out of a turbo (or rather, the right turbo) than you will a supercharger. A supercharger will give you instantaneous power which is awesome for just everyday driving around town.

Now, if you like to rev your motor out, then i would suggest a turbo. Id say a T3 Super60 would be a good choice. You will not have quite the instant torque like from a supercharger but after 3500 rpm where the turbo really starts kicking in you will feel a big difference and you will make more power in the higher rpms. You also could put a smaller turbo on there for a quicker spool up to where it feel just like a fast NA car, however your power will start to fall off in the higher rpms but would still probably make more power than a supercharger.

I mean, it really all depends on what you are wanting. Personally i would rather have the turbo. Just do a little research, there's been plenty of discussions about superchargers vs. turbos.

just from what i have seen superchargers dont give as much gain as a turbo does...especially when it comes time to up the boost. turbo install is a bit more indepth but still fairly tame. personally i would go turbo before i went supercharged. as for what motor to go with if youy are ona budget get a ls, they are strong and like moderate boost levels and if it blows up you can get another for pretty cheap. i have a turbo gsr civic hatch and i love it. this is my 4th turbo car and i will never have anything else....unless i get a supercharged v8! just do some research and find waht is best for you. if you autocross you may not want the turbo as it has to spool and in auto cross you may not want to wait for the turbo to spool. the super charger will give you nearly instant power. if you truly must go with a super charger might i suggest the procharger kit..i would totally rockl one of those.

get out on the net hit some forums and just make sure you learn as much as you can. then YOU decide what you want. dont ever let your freind talk you into what you are spending your money on.

If i remember right, dont the procharger kits actually have some lag so it doesnt really have the benefit of instant torque like that of a roots type blower? (jackson racing supercharger) They do make some nice power tho, thats for sure.

as with any centrifugal charger ther will be some parasitic power loss....hell thats with any charger generally speaking. but before the procharger came out the only advantage jackson had of vortech was that there was no rod connected to the pulley side of the motor. most complaints with vortech chargers was that the belts could not grip the pulleys. they were slipping and making ppl be slower to gain their power. the procharger mounts on the pulley side of the motor and according to their site gain 50-100% more power. this civic was in a magazine i had a while back. it is a fairly moderate set-up and had very impressive gains if you ask me:

    http://procharger.com/gallery/showte...ket=5&idx=1158

this car gained 113 whp with this kit on a b16. with any super charger kit or turbo you will have your pros and cons. but you gotta pick the lesser of 2 evils. if i had to go supercharged it would be this kit hands down. its pricey but hte numbers speak volumes......most of which is due to the intercooler and fuel mods that come with this kit. the same number could in essense be made with a jackson but how much extra would you spend??? plus the location of install is just a work of beauty! your car would appear all motor with the exception of the fmic....oh yea and the number you lay down!

    procharger hotness

if i was not turbo this thing wouldbe on my car no doubt. i dont know what this guy has for money for this project so that gonna dictate what he can or cannot do. if he can afford this procharger kit i say go for it. i would love to see one in person. if he cant for half the price a drag gen III kit or a turbonetics kit will provide enough ass for anyone to be happy with their boosted set-up.

my motor is stock and for about $9000 you could build a car just like mine. i paid $3000 for the hatch which was too much but its over with now. for $8500 you can build a gsr turbo hatch no prob. most of my costs came from hasport mounts, blox intake mani, jg throttle body, injectors, ect ect ect. it can be done way cheaper. but bottom line is for $8500 you should be able to buy a car and a swap and turbo it
