just from what i have seen superchargers dont give as much gain as a turbo does...especially when it comes time to up the boost. turbo install is a bit more indepth but still fairly tame. personally i would go turbo before i went supercharged. as for what motor to go with if youy are ona budget get a ls, they are strong and like moderate boost levels and if it blows up you can get another for pretty cheap. i have a turbo gsr civic hatch and i love it. this is my 4th turbo car and i will never have anything else....unless i get a supercharged v8! just do some research and find waht is best for you. if you autocross you may not want the turbo as it has to spool and in auto cross you may not want to wait for the turbo to spool. the super charger will give you nearly instant power. if you truly must go with a super charger might i suggest the procharger kit..i would totally rockl one of those.

get out on the net hit some forums and just make sure you learn as much as you can. then YOU decide what you want. dont ever let your freind talk you into what you are spending your money on.

If i remember right, dont the procharger kits actually have some lag so it doesnt really have the benefit of instant torque like that of a roots type blower? (jackson racing supercharger) They do make some nice power tho, thats for sure.

as with any centrifugal charger ther will be some parasitic power loss....hell thats with any charger generally speaking. but before the procharger came out the only advantage jackson had of vortech was that there was no rod connected to the pulley side of the motor. most complaints with vortech chargers was that the belts could not grip the pulleys. they were slipping and making ppl be slower to gain their power. the procharger mounts on the pulley side of the motor and according to their site gain 50-100% more power. this civic was in a magazine i had a while back. it is a fairly moderate set-up and had very impressive gains if you ask me:

this car gained 113 whp with this kit on a b16. with any super charger kit or turbo you will have your pros and cons. but you gotta pick the lesser of 2 evils. if i had to go supercharged it would be this kit hands down. its pricey but hte numbers speak volumes......most of which is due to the intercooler and fuel mods that come with this kit. the same number could in essense be made with a jackson but how much extra would you spend??? plus the location of install is just a work of beauty! your car would appear all motor with the exception of the fmic....oh yea and the number you lay down!

    procharger hotness

if i was not turbo this thing wouldbe on my car no doubt. i dont know what this guy has for money for this project so that gonna dictate what he can or cannot do. if he can afford this procharger kit i say go for it. i would love to see one in person. if he cant for half the price a drag gen III kit or a turbonetics kit will provide enough ass for anyone to be happy with their boosted set-up.
