How much boost has anyone put on their LS? or can you dish on them??I have a friend that has a SC61 and wants to boost the crap out of it on his LS. Because of fianances, He wont be able to upgrade the rods but will be able to upgrade the pistons.

not sure how much the rods along will hold but weve boosted a 99 ls up to 257 WHP and it held. It eventually blew up but the kid never brought it back dwn so im not sure what let go. he wanted as much power as possible bc he was plannign on building it. my guess would be the pistons fried bc he was setting up to get nitrous put on it when he got it back from us. I would suggest putting ARP rod bolts in for extra security. Good luck though.

LS rods are weaker than VTEC rods b/c they are built to withstand much lower engine speeds. As far as the stress boost would cause even if you kept the lower redline of the LS engine I'm not too sure. I'm sure someone can tell you. I would definately do what BTEC suggested and at the very least go with ARP rod bolts AND head studs with boost. I wouldn't boost too much either, probably 8 lbs max. Again, Im no expert nor do I have much experience with boost but that would be my view on it if I were doing it.
