Default Giving a Civic Si some balls

What would be the best way to give my 2000 Civic Si some more balls? I dont want an all out race car but i would like it to be more "Peppy". I thought about a turbo, running like 4 lbs of boost to help get rid of the motor vacuum. But that is goign to be like 3K if that is what i have to do that is what i have to do but i was wondering if there was something that would give me the same result for less $$.
