    Default Honda Pilot...

Anyone ever owned one? I'm looking at a 2006 model to replace my wife's Pontiac van. Never thought much of this car, but after looking online at the features and roominess of them, I'm on top of this. Wondering what people's experiences on here may be.

    Thanks. Later, QD.

The 2006 model is still in the 1st gen family. I'm thinking of picking one up in the early part of 2012. Later, QD.

They are nice I know some of the older ones had transmission issues with overheating but I think They have updated that by now. But that is something to look at. Also they are not that great on gas.

I bought my wife a Pilot new in 06 and have had no problems at all. Its been a great SUV and has always been comfortable and safe. My only complaint is that there are no air vents for the 3rd row which the 2nd gen does have.

I have some family friends who have one, never heard anything bad about the car from them, so I assume only good things. They did have a pretty bad accident in it, and in the end everyone walked away with some bruises. Pretty safe for a family car too.

We've serviced a few at work. Aside from the common transmission failures, they're solid vehicles. Honda can't seem to make a decent V6 transmission for some reason.

Knock on wood but I have 2 vehicles with the infamous transmissions but with changing the ATF every 20k, using the new DW1 fluid, changing filters (that most parts department cant find unless you provide them with the part number) and changing the 3rd and 4th clutch pressure sensors, I have yet to encounter any hint of a problem.
