Default wider tires on stock rims. opinions?

i have a 2009 altima 3.5 se sedan. i know the stock tire size is 215/55-17, but i was wondering how it would affect the ride if i put 235/50-17 on there. i used the calculator and it says it will fit but was wondering if it would actually be worse for the ride. so basically, would it be better to go with a wider tire size or stay with the stock tire size. any kind of info would be great.

i did something of this sort but went with taller wall size.
    recommended: 205/55-15
went with 2 in the front: 215/60-15
    rears were: 205/60-15
    all @ stock height
lets just say i dont have those in the front anymore due to unrelated reasons..but i saw the damaged they incurred on the metal frame piece on the well...
looked nice tho i was tryna go for the fat tires thing..
