    Default **IS a catch can a need with 300hp**

    Ive got a z6 turbo and wondering if a catch can is a need? I see people vent the vc, not sure if it makes a diff or not?

    Depends on how much crank case pressure you have, ring gap, boost etc...

    get it, it doesnt matter what motor you have or setup.. your engine will always have blow-by; which is what a catch cans purpose is for. i look at it as a win-win situation, never have i seen a problem having a catch can vs whereas not having one blows out seals ..

    youll know when you need a catch can. Seals blowing out and oil leaks from valve cover and cam seals lol.

    Yes, without it the valve cover will literally explode, blew my boys hood off in his Cavalier.

    that wont happen on a honda unless the cover is compromised to start with. Cover gasket will blow out...that ive seen.

    Is there an EFFECTIVE way to run one without venting the vc? I don't want to weld/grind/repaint my vc if I dont have to.

    you could carefully drill and tap the valve cover instead of weld. and weld it later if you wanted. Lots of people do this with type r valve covers.

    vent it out to the amosphere or run a line to the bottom of the car from the pcv valve..
