My old h22 from my Del Sol made 215 on a Mustang dyno. Skunk2 Pro1 cams, s2 springs and retainers, full exhaust and intake. That's all. An SC y8 is probably just a waste of time for the amount of money you would spend.

yeah a supercharged y8 will only make about 140-150 wheel. an h22 will make about 185 stock with crappy bolt ons.

H22 swap, they're fun motors man.
My friend has a supercharged Y8, it's a lot of fun, and sounds awesome, but doesn't make as much as you think HP wise.

yeah a supercharged y8 will only make about 140-150 wheel. an h22 will make about 185 stock with crappy bolt ons
a healthy y8 will put around 125 to the wheels with crappy i/h/e. your power with the supercharger is
    your missing out on psi.
if your looking for torque and money, go with h22. if your going with cheap and already have a y8. get supercharger.
supercharger goes for under 1g, one forsale right now for 800$
    h22 swap = 1.5k-2k maybe more, + conversion mounts/harness etc

    its your car, your call.

hell, your posting in a n/a thread, majority answers your going to get is all motor suggestions

No you're high if you think a y8 with junky bolt ons will make 125 wheel. All the jrsc dyno charts I've seen make about 140-150 wheel and mid 120's torque. I've had experience with these chargers a long time ago and have no plans to ever go back with a d series with power in the same sentence.

That's like asking if you want aids or cancer. But out of the 2, H22 all the way.

my d15b with ebay header, short ram intake, 2.25inch ebay exhaust made 123 with a broken air temperature sensor on dyno jet with 100k+ miles on the engine. a 1.6L will not make less than what i made.
and thats without a tune, p28 ecu

    Supercharger

way cheaper, same power, no hassle of having to do a swap, etc. H22 swap in that car is not cheap and esy youre looking at $3000-4000 EASY plus install, plus wiring, plus you hack it up for the shifter cables, etc etc etc

Supercharger is $800-1000 and youll make around 180-190 with a ton of TQ, and its a simple install.

we did one at mainstream at 10PSI that made 18X/160TQ it had I/H/E no cat , tuned on crome

Stock y8s dyno around 115-125 if they are HEALTHY

The question becomes how much do you want to spend. A supercharger will not make as much as an H22 but its close. And its WAY WAY WAY Cheaper. If you have $1500 to spend you CANT do an H22, you can do a supercharger. If you have $4000 to spend, well then you got something to work with.

Personally, if you have $2500-4000 to spend id do a Small turbo kit. Its cheap, you can make 200-220whp reliably with a super small turbo that will make it spool FAST. IE No turbo lag. Itll rape any swapped car, and youll still get good gas mileage.

D series i always recommend small turbo over a swap

tru dat. IF you already have a y8, then its definitely cheaper to go ahead and supercharge it as it is MUCH less of a hassle ... if you dont have a engine already, then you have alot of options. hands down though, H22 will run you ALOT more money depending on where you source your parts and how good of parts you decide to buy... even ALL ebay H22 swap parts will run more than a basic supercharger for a y8.

go LS-turbo with b16 tranny. But if you're stuck between the two then i'd say get a supercharger, well worth the money n simple installation. h22 if you plan on making bigger power down the road

Well if I HAD to have a d, this would be the only way other than an all out fuel econo box. Results with the charger will not guarantee those results or 180 wheel. They aren't typical at least. You would probably have to bolt up an m62 blower and throw the m45 out the window. A 10 psi pulley also isn't going to come with the kit more than likely. Yes an h22 swap will cost more. BUT you didn't say you had a budget so an h22 can make more power easily but a turbo stock d is the best option.

If you can install a super charger you can do a h22 swap. Everybody has aleways made it out to be way harder then it is but never the less it is a swap remember that.

It realy depends on your over all goal in the long run ,weither you want to run track or play on the street , weither its a play toy or a dd.

There are alot of good swaps out there with alot of potential but most of the time you can sell your stock car and take the money and buy a swapped one lol(about 3,000 get you any swapped car you want look around).

Asking weither a d series super charged or h22 is no way apples to apples there are so many reasons to say one or the other with out knowing more info.

I had a 97 civic ex with a jackson supercharger, venom injectors, fmu, exhaust, nothing too special. I definintely agree, sounds awesome but will not put out as much HP as you probably would like. I dont even fool with hondas anymore.
