    Default 3000k HID headlights... tickets/pullovers?

Hi guys, relatively new to the site, though I've browsed around before. Question: can I expect to be pulled over or get a ticket for having 3000k HID headlights in the metro area? I did a little research and found that some people have gotten pulled over like crazy for running them (one guy said 3x the first week). However, this seems to be dependent on the locale/state as some people have gone months to a year with no problems while others got consistently nailed.

I've been running 6000k for almost a year with no problems from police, and I get flashed maybe once every couple of months.

Also, no flames please, I'm not necessarily interested in your opinions of how they look; I'll decide that if I get them.

    Thanks!

I have heard of people getting pulled over like crazy and others never getting pulled over, I would play it safe and leave them alone.

Yes, you can be pulled over for them. HID Kits are 100% illegal for road use on a vehicle that did not come equipped with them from the vehicle manufacturer. This includes retrofitting a factory HID Kit from another car to yours. With that being said, anything that is closer to white will almost be perfectly safe from police. As you detour from that and add more color, your risk will go up and you could receive a ticket. I know one person that got a ticket for 8000k by a Gwinnett County cop...which is barely above a stock BMW. In the end, it just depends on the cop you come across. Some could care less, some that is their pet peeve.

yes, like what dynamicsound said. i've bought many kits from them.
it is illegal, but being pull over and ticketed will depend on the cop(s).
my buddy ticketed for 3k (gold) hid and so did i a week later. 86 dollar ticket.
i later than swap to 8k, no problem. ran for 6months without a issue. bulb went bad, swapped to 20k, ( deep blue ). havnt got pull over yet. so far its been about 2 months.
i deliver in my vehicle, about 50-100 miles a day, average 10-20 cops a day. they seem to not care.
my suggestion would stay away from GOLD, PURPLE/PINK/ GREEN. since they are nowhere near city light or factory HID.

Yep. My girlfriend ran Pink for about 6 months and never was pulled over. She was all around police including being directly behind them. I know a lot of other people rocking Pink and have been pulled over several times.

The only one that perfectly get away with it is the police. We have done 200+ personal cars owed by police and we have done about 50+ actual police cars. A lot of times they get the crazy colors, but they can get away with it.

i have 3k. ive been pulled over once. the cop said they were too bright, but he gave me a warning. i angled them down and havent been stopped since. this was over a year ago.

my girlfriend has 30k. shes been pulled over more times than i can remember. once the cop even said that mine were ok(my car was behind hers still running)because they are closer to white than hers, and that stock headlights give off a natural yellow anyway.

so i say 3k-8k is in the safe range.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm still torn! I would really like to see what 3000k looks like on my car, but naturally I would not like a ticket by any means. I guess my verdict is I'll save the 3000k's for a time when I can afford tickets :P

There are EXTREMELY limited options in the headlight department for p11's.

AFAIK there's no aftermarket housings, but one popular option is to get JDM duals or JDM HID duals, which are rad since they're glass and won't fog. However, the problem is these housings are aimed for a RHD application so I've heard of people getting flashed a lot.

I bet we could find a way to aim them in a better direction.

6000k is the only thing I run. To me, it's puts out the whitest and most usable light.

I just saw these in an EK coupe, that was burnt cherry reddish brown yesterday, fakkin gorgeous, but super noticeable. With me being in AL, it's not a big deal here, but there that might be a problem.

safest bet would be to use the 3000k as a fog light so it looks more natural...the suns kelvin temperature brightness runs at around 5770-5780k thats why most stock hid kits try to imitate the temperature of natural sunlight the closer you are the less you will gain attention from police. ive had a few different i ran 12000k on my gsr it looks good but just not very practical for vision. im currently running 8000k on my em1 and the sight difference is great. Due to temperature on the light spectrum the yellow will only lessen your vision at night. i am going to be running 3000k fogs though. Personally just love the lexus look coming at me.
I put diamonds in my cereal. For two reasons.
One- Cuz its ballin as shit.
Two- So when i poop my doo doo twinkles.

3000K for fogs and 6000K for headlights. 8000K works great but has that bluish tint to it. 6000K is almost pure white.
