    Default ls question

ok i built a ls for boost with 9:5 pistons eagle rods pretty much fully built forged with head work cams and springs

im running low on funds and was wondering how slugish it would be with out boost

    srp 9:5 pistons
    eagle rods
    stock polished crank
    block gaurd
    arp complete stud kit
crower 404-6 with springs and retainers i wanna say like 475 lift intake and 477 exhaust or close to that
    major p&p
all has been balanced and ready to go

Kinda sluggish unless you get it tuned for this setup in an NA tune.

the plan was to boost and make a whp goal of 425 but $ is low and at the moment i dont see myself purchasing a turbo so i was wondering how sluggish it would it be if i got a NA tune and ran it all moter

if you cant afford to boost just yet, remove the cams and replace with stock cams for the time being... the 404's are going to make your life hell with sub 10 compression.

There are no negative effects of boosting 10:1 engines. Its actually not a bad thing.

true, but keep in mind he wont be boosting anytime soon due to tight funds. with his compression low and big cams, i recommended he replace the 404's with stock cams for the time being. makes sense eh?

+1. The 404's will be counter productive with a low compression setup. I'd swap back to the stockers for the time being.

As for the engine being sluggish, keep in mind that your compression ratio is still a tad higher than stock. It should run just like a stock LS engine.

Well the head is built around the cams....it has been milled .002 so it should be more to what 10:1
The cams are all motor cams but after reading multiple dyno runs with them it's been noticed they respond very well to turbo se-ups as well that's why I went with them

But you aren't going turbo at the moment so you are back to square one. So, either swap the cams out and tune it for NA or just drop the money as you can to go turbo.

I drove my SI around on 9:1 without the supercharger and it was annoyingly slow. You just have to get in the mindset it is just for transportation then it's not so bad.
