    Default Mileage and boost

I have a F22B2 in my accord. its running on 215,000 miles. The thing doesnt smoke or anything and has hardly ever seen above 3k RPMS, and absolutely never has seen above 4k.

I'll put some ARP Headstuds and a damn good tune on her..

I just want IA's on if it would be safe to boost Ol' Rita?

    thanks,
    Reps

I would say as long as compression is good across the board and get a great tune, you shouldn't have too much to worry about as long as boost levels are reasonable.

Honestly, I would not put that large of a turbo on your car. The absolute largest I would go would be a t3/t04e 57 trim...that turbo will make all the power you could ever hope for on your stock high mileage accord. You rocking an auto or 5 speed?

I couldn't imagine 12psi from a T28 would be any different than 12psi from a T3 or T4. Think that will boil down to preference and/or what you can get ahold of. From a personal standpoint, I'd rock a GT2860RS ( disco potato ) and go from there.

please quit talking......12 psi from a t28 is completely different from 12 psi on a t3 or t4.

Do a compression test...If all of your numbers are within 10-15% of each other and still holding good compression then boost it...dont go crazy with the turbo. Nothing wrong with a smaller turbo that spools faster. Forget about the boost pressure since 12 psi is just a unit of measure. You need to have an understanding of compressor maps and such. 12 psi on your avg. t3/t4 is way different that 12 psi on a 14g dsm turbo. Do some reserach on people that have built similar set-ups and go from there. IMHO small t3/t4 or bigger t3 will be perfect for ya. run 7-10psi and get a tune. dont skimp on fuel parts...if you have the fuel and a great tune the car will last. I ran a drag gen III on a stock gsr swap for years. I sold it 4 or 5 years ago and the car its on is still running like new.....its all in the tune. Buy quality parts and get a good tune and you will be fine as long as the motor is in good condition. my gsr swap and the gsr the turbo kit is on now both had well into the 100k's on mileage and both are/were beat on regularly.

Im rocking 5 speed for sure. And I'm buying a spare f22 block and building it so I want a turbo I can throw on my car now and then switch over to my built motor....hopefully 300-350 hp.

t3/to4e would be the limit for that old man. Definitely not a 60-1, you'll kill that engine within a month or 2.

you will just run it out of its efficiency range and not make as good of power. A t3/t04e will take you into the 400-450hp range. if thats not enough you can sell it and buy a larger turbo. Anything over 250whp in a fwd is more than a hand full anyways. My last turbo gsr was making in the neighbor hood of 300-320whp and would not get traction until 3rd. Keep in mind this was not beating on it really hard I had to turn onto a road before really getting into it thats why first gear is not as violent. this was shortly after installing the turbo kit. 95' gsr motor with 120k+ completely bone stock with fuel mods and a t3/t04e 60 trim turbo kit running 7psi:

Dang man. that thing is pretty quick. but i see what your saying. who makes the t3/t04e turbos?

Edit: i looked and found plenty of different vendors. that sounds like the turbo i'll need for my goals by far.
