Thread: What to buy... WRX or 240?

  1. #1

Default What to buy... WRX or 240?

I've owned 2 Subaru's in the past. An 04 STI (sold it a while back), an 03 WRX Wagon (Which I literally just sold a few days ago).

I already put a deposit on a heavily modified WRX Wagon which I had been looking at for a while. He's getting a few kinks worked out with the car and I will be paying the full price of the car once it's all worked out.

However, a good friend of mine recently bought a S13 with a Ka-T setup and it seems like a really awesome car.

I've been looking at another ka-t S14 for quite some time. And it is much cheaper then the WRX. However, it will not be as fast.

I have only known Subaru's the past 3-4 years I've been modding cars. I am not quite sure if its time to move on or not. The 240 seems like a very awesome car, it's very uncontrolled and raw which I like. I've always been a fan of RWD and I am getting sicked of the absolute control and grip AWD provides. I think I may be becoming a fan of going sideways.

If you could give me any advice that'd be awesome, I really cannot make up my mind. And it kind of sucks I put a deposit down already.

Stick with the Subaru. It won't give you nearly as many headaches.
    Who knows?

KA-Ts are good at making power for the 4 minutes before they blow. I'd stick with Subaru.

    LOL UM...

Why is this even a debate. NOTHING a 240 can do would make me pick one over a WRX.

I've had 2 wrx's and an s14. The 240 was cool for driftin, but thats about it. Subaru is just a better all around car. Im on my 2nd subaru now. The only way I would get another 240 is if it was a project car...not a daily.

So you want to join the "drift" club wanna be F&F. If you are serious with this thread, you shouldn't sit in another Subaru again. AWD FTMFW!

I agree with anyone that said Subaru. If you have the funds to get a Subaru, why would a 240 even be in the equation? They're not nearly as nice or good looking. There is no comparing the two. Later, QD.

I suppose it depends what you're looking for. You can build a pretty respectable s13 with the money you would spend on the WRX. However, it's also no comparison for me. I'd go with the Subaru. This is honestly a stupid comparison, stock for stock the WRX outclasses any 240 in every way.

So, I thought about it. And I am getting both. Bought the WRX I put a deposit on, and I have some extra cash that I am going to use to purchase a 240. Probably going to daily the 240, and the WRX will be my weekend car. I think it will be better this way anyway. I hear it's always good to have a beater/daily and then keep your fast cars for the weekend/track/autocross etc...

Becareful you may have too much fun with the 240 and end up having the WRX as the beater and the 240 as the track car.

i was in this same situation a couple weeks ago then i went and test drove a 1990 hatchback with a type x sr20det motor swap with some minor mods and LSD and after the test drive i knew whati wanted 240 all the way the subie might be nicer as far as looks but the 240 is 20 years old but with a little work it can look just as nice but its all your opinion on what u want!
