    Default GA license plate laws

We bought a car that has a valid tag on it that expires in december. Have been driving on it for a couple of months cause I havnt had the time to get a new tag. I work with the seller and he says you can leave it on till it expires and get a new tag....is this the case? i've never dealt with a car that they left the current tag on it. I plan to get a new tag before it expires regardless like real soon but just wondering.

I looked for laws on this but all i could find was that it was just a law to not drive with an expired tag.

You 30 days from date of purchase to have your car registered and acquire a tag in your name.

No you can not when the vehicle is sold the tag stays with the old owner. And you have to have a new tag within 30 days of buying the vehicle.

ive never seen a law about 30 days to acquire a tag, i have for the date on the title. Its like buying a car and having it sit....not needing a tag.

You can drive it for 30 days after the date of purchase without needing a tag, after that you need a tag to drive it. The date on the title and bill of sale are proof of purchase until you get the tag

    This is terrible grammar.

    Mine was $26. That's a 1995 Miata, non-vanity tag.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

Pssss, what was I thinking huh? Posting a simple reply to a general post on IA. (Crack my fingers and flexing neck for the following):

Hey Spoolin, I don’t have the exact, law abiding answer to your question. However, from personal experience I can tell you that in order to get a legal license plate for my automobile, which is a 1995 Honda, I paid $60. That’s American dollars, which is Fiat money by the way.

Haha, I hope that does it,

It's cost me 18$ for each car I've traded/bought.. It's about 25$ now when I transfer my prestige tag. 18$ is the title fee.. and it's probably more for the tag if you cant supply one of your own.
