Do yall really think new VW's aren't reliable? You aren't going to have any problems with either a newer Nissan or VW. I love VW but I really have a thing for SE-R Altimas, definitely the only Altima worth owning in my eyes. But the Gti has the fun to drive factor that even the SE-R can't match. I guess you just need to get seat time in both and pick what you like best.

Obviously the gti is a better car than the sentra...but I dont think this guy is looking for a new car, or a gti or sentra for that matter...

aeshetics, really are up to who's looking at them. i'm a nissan guy for a reason. i like the way nissane designs the bodies of their cars. i do love me some german engineering, but i'm very picky about newer model VW's. most of them just don't do it to me, whereas MOST new model nissans i really like and would DD in a heartbeat if i could afford one. yes there are other cars on the market in that price range that on a purely aesthetic level i would take over a nissan, but between the two i'd take nissan all day every day.

as far as reliability goes, i've heard some horror stories about VW elecronic systems, and the prices to fix them. and i'm sure the new nissans have their bugs as well, but PERSONALLY i've heard more problems coming from the VW side. that's just me. if you're concerned mainly with insurance and reliability, i'd go with a four door altima. full leather premium package one one of those with some dark tint a little drop and some nice wheels and you'll have a NICE DD.
