    Default Anti-AtlantaMotorsportsPark blog

    http://moveamp.blogspot.com/

Worth a good read over, though it's annoying as to how closed minded some of it is, other things bring some decent valid points, but overall...

.... it makes me want to enforce AMP even now.

You gotta wait while they look through their thesaurus to find more "big words" so they can look like a better person and try to confuse us common folk. If you want to get a place where it is silent and you can raise kids like there is no outside world....get a fucking house wayyyyy back in the woods on a mountain somewhere.

Also...did anyone see this "You got PAID to work there unless you're racing riff raff and just get high off of the fumes. "? It made me LIRL so hard

AMP won't help street racing. Over 95% of street racers will not want to pay dues or can not.

Drag strips help, not road courses. You can't just hop into a road course like you can a drag strip - especially a private motorsports club like AMP is.

Actually you CAN, an SCCA PDX is $100 and all you need is a car that's not ghetto rigged. Aka a working seat belt, working seats, working brakes, steering, good tires, you're good to go. If your car can pass tech at a drag strip it passes tech for a PDX.

Yeah, but skreet racers that would attend the strip are gnerally cheapasses and wouldn't pay $100 for a hour on a track.

Coming from someone who will street race and has spent 6 years of my life road racing, it helps tremendously. The problem is most street racers and drag racers are too ignorant to figure out how to sign up, and how good it is. I've recruited almost all of my friends and many friends i've met street racing out to where the real racing is and it's like loosing their car virginity all over again. If I didn't have the freedom I did on the track i'm sure i'd have to find it by bending the traffic laws

nothing wrong with drag strips,i wish we had one closer to metro atlanta. Really wish AMS would build one, there is a ton of land behind the track.

id like to the try the road course someday, but i think the driving with others on the track and so forth kinda scares me. As lame as that sounds..lol

I'm going to play devils advocate here.

I am going to assume that none of you own property near this proposed Motorsports park. It's probably a safe assumption that most of you don't own property period. So let's make a hypothetical situation.

You own a parking space. In your apartment complex or where you work. The parking space next to you is occupied by a Bentley on the left and a Ferrari on the right. All is good, times are well and you feel good because your good money that you paid on that parking spot is well spent.

Now, the Bentley guy leaves and so does the Ferrari. The guy on the left moves in with a Pinto that has a side exhaust that every time he starts it, it spews oil filled smoke onto the side of your car. The other guy moves in with a 4wd truck that drops mud all over the place and runs down on your tires and splatters on your car.

Now tell me, would you be happy? Would you just say, "Ok....i'm just a whiney bitch" I highly doubt it. So these people have a legitimate complaint. They paid WAY more for their homes and land than any of you did for your cars. So they can complain all they want. I agree with them, but I also agree that AMP is a good idea. More tracks are always a good idea as long as they are not dirt tracks.

There you have it, think about the other side of the coin.

I didn't say there is/was. I agree that more accessable strips would probably reduce the skreet razers because they'd have a place to hang out AND race. But in today's society, people are too bitchy...they'll complain about a track AND they'll complaing about people driving fast. Go figure.

As for that analgy of parking spaces.. I think that's a little too general. Using the same example, I'd say it would be like having a parking space with empty spots on either side of you. Now there are plans to occupy these spaces with other cars..one is noisey, one is dirty. Insted of just slapping them next to you, the owner of the Pinto agrees that he'll only start the car during agreed hours that wouldn't cause a disruption and will route the exhust down to the ground. The guy with the big truck also comes to an agreement that he'll build a small divider to keep dirt out of your parking space. Both issues are still present, but the owners have tried to make compromise.

I understand these people have quiet bumblefuck property and were there first, but they're also making the track out to be the end of the world and that it'll be constantly nosy and that 'noxious fumes' will endanger people's kids and there will be a constant cloud of pollution coming from there. If it's no that location, it'll be the same story ANYWHERE the idea would be purposed. Hell, someone was trying to develop the property next to Road Atlanta and were trying to get RA shut down. ...what kinda of logic is that? The logic of stupid people. Gwinnett Co. Fairgrounds is another good example. The Atlanta region SCCA got told to GTFO because the homeowners were companing about the noise. But wait, autoX events were being run there long before the houses were built AND there are many other much louder events like the damn fair that not only bring noise but droves of people some of whom are not exactly upstanding citizens.....but the fair goes on and the 2-3 time a year autox'ers get the boot.

    qft.

im aware that just bulding a track isn't going to get all the street racers off the road, because they're cheap, cars are broken/not up to standard etc. but it WILL get some off the road, and that's better than nothing.

i highly agree with the part about moving the track somewhere else. no matter where you put it, someone is going to bitch about it sooner or later.

and the part about the fair. just...yes. to all of it.

Its funny that most of the people who bitch about these blogs have never set foot on a track (driving) and will most likely never even see this particular park. Much less even be able to afford to use this track. I do personally own land near this park.
