it depends on the tire, but a 235 on a 8.5 isnt gonna fix what you want. There is another half inch that you dont see on regular properly fitted tires. and it doesnt begin to truly stretch until you get down to a certain width.. and with the 8.5 its the 215-205..

here is a pic of a 225 on a 8.5 with a falken tire, and they are known to stretch good. What you need is some camber to fix this problem.. with the stretch your still gonna scrub. drop the car more.. and you will see
