    Default Reccomendations for EBC?

Looking to buy an electronic boost controller, and need some opinions. Ive heard the Profec-B is top notch, but i've heard of an EBC with a turbo timer built in? Anyone have any info on that? Post up your suggestions!

its not the cheapest, but I have a Blitz DSBC-R in my STi, and I absolutely love it. it's simple to use, easy as shit to adjust, has 4 boost settings, and a dual solenoid so it can hold whatever pressure you throw at it without a problem.
    Who knows?

I lessthanthree my Profec II Spec-B. Unless Mr. 35R's controller, which gives you handjobs while driving, it's only like $350 new.

greddy profec type s or the old greddy profec b

3 knobs, gain, low, and high.

if you have an 8psi spring in your wastegate, when you get to around 4-5psi it'll start to crack open, wasting potential energy until finally opening up all the way when that 8psi is reached, which is kind of a soggy/gradual boost respone.

an electronic boost controller will hold the wastegate shut until that 8psi is reached, wasting no energy, giving a crisper boost response, thus resulting in more low end torque and "faster spool."

a manual boost controller will not do this, and manual boost controllers is why 95% of import motors blow the hell up before ever seeing 300hp.

so for this particular boost controller you turn the gain knob as much as it will go until boost is stable with no spikes or fluctuation. DONE

now you have low boost and high boost, a power button to turn it on and off (if you hold it) and a select button to switch between low and high boost.

if you want more boost, turn up the knob, DONE

    man that was easy

it holds boost within .3 psi all the way to redline with the proper wastegate.

on our dyno we log the boost so i can show you several dyno sheets with this boost controller and how well it works if you come to the shop (Lethal Injection)

    here's the old one

they both have 3 knobs but the type s is the newer version and has the small boost solenoid. the older version has a big huge solenoid but still works just as well.

by far the easiest to use, and they work AWESOME.

just about every other ebc has percentages of solenoid duty, with gain numbers and arbitrary other numbers for different features, out of all these other boost controllers....

the best i've found is the greddy profec spec 2. it's got percentages instead of a easy to use knob but they work well. so if that's all you can get your hands on then that'd be my third choice.

the apexi avcr is good too but it's about twice the price of a greddy profec. it does have some really good features but you probably won't need or use those features so it comes down to money. it'll tell you your speed in kilometers, you can change boost per gear, and if your turbo's small you can give it more solenoid duty to try to hold boost steady at set rpm points. if all you wanna do is hit ____ psi in every gear, not spike, and not worry, then you can spend half the money on a profec.

there's a zillion boost controllers out there and i've worked with many hks, blitz, aem, and turbo smart boost controllers as well....my top 3 are as follows

    1. greddy profec type s (3 knob)
    2. greddy profec b (ole school 3 knob)
    3. greddy profec b spec 2

the only problem is the 3 knob boost controllers are discontinued, and since they're so easy to use and work so well, it's hard to find people selling them.....

    so thank God there's ebay

Neither, get a Halman Manual and call it a day. If you want more boost on the fly, get a remote knob.

Most people have issues with the profec B spec 2, because they don't RTFM, lol. Its a great controller

tru boost pisses me off. it sucks to set the thing cause you're always holding these little plastic rods that stab into your finger tips....they work better on external wastegate cars than internal set ups imo.

it's a good idea on paper.....the boost guage shaped boost controller....but when you're setting the thing up you won't enjoy holding down two things stabbing your finger tips over and over again....or stabbing you when you're switching from A and B.

turn a knob and go, DONE

    my .02
