After a solid month or so, after I spun a rod bearing on a freshly tuned motor, I did some research, and it looks like alot of folks have issues with Y series oil pumps at high RPMs. I was on another forum and there were a few options.
1. Shim my Y8, or Z6 oil pump for a high flow rate
2. Use a Z6 oil pump
Now, as far as the shimming goes, has anyone heard of this? and do you think it's a good fix for the issue? Should a Z6 oil pump do the trick? Some people even went as far as using a Z6 oil pump, and oil pick up, and pan, but they said it wouldn't allow for a dip stick, and that doesnt sound like a solid move for me.
Any positive advice would help. thanks in advance!
