Whatcha revving it to?
Well, car has now done AWD burnouts with the launch control! Have just roughed the tune back in on the street. Hoping to get back to the dyno next weekend, but it is running very strong. We are also adding a new crank case ventilation system to it as well. Breel is doing the welding on that. It was a Christmas present for Gost.
Well new update. We played with it for a bit tonight now that the cam timing is set to where it should be. Still having an issue with blow by though. Car's intercooler probably had a quart of oil through it, lol. But I wanted to see exactly where we stood after getting the timing belt in the right position. So we decided just to do a couple pulls to see where it was at.
I pulled a bunch of timing out, richened up the air fuels just to be on the safe side. I really did not want to push the car, I just wanted to see generally where we were at now that the cams were correct. Last time the most Doug could get out of it before calling it quits was 409 hp. This time, with 10.7:1 AFR's and about 5-6 degrees of timing pulled from where it was before, it made 450 AWHP on Topspeeds dyno at 25 psi+-. What a HUGE difference 1 tooth of cam timing can make! Of course this was also with oil coating the intercooler...reducing the thermal efficiency of the intercooler, lowering the octane of the fuel and generally not being any where NEAR optimal.
While I was a little disappointed when it showed up with all the oil in the intake, I am really getting excited. I really hope that after we pull some fuel out of it, get all the CRAP out of the intercooler and add a couple pounds of boost back into it, it will break 500hp. Remember...this is a built bottom end, but no head work at all. Stock valves, stock cams, no port or polish....just a STOCK set of heads! Also the intake manifold is just a plain jane Sti intake.
nice
how hard was it to run the charge pipe under the IM? i helped a buddy run the pipe from his GT42 and he had to file down some places. looks good though man.
We did it on another car and it was not too bad....just have to be the right angles and bends. Gost did that on his own actually.
Tearing down the motor for cams, ported heads, bigger valves and new custom 8.9:1 pistons. Hopefully back on the road over 500 in the next month or so!

nice, I've always had a thing for the subrsssss man, I really wan an sti now..... its the grown mans car with 4 doors to take the kids to school REALLY FAST!!!!!!!!
Haha, I love mine. This turbo is pretty darn fun on the car too. Once it hits, it hits hard and pulls all the way to redline with no taper. The above graph was just 25 psi. After the motor refresh we are going to shoot for 30 psi on race fuel and REALLY see what it can do. The above was a 3rd gear pull (6 speed) so it looks a bit laggier than it really is. On the street in 4th we saw full boost by a little over 4k RPM.
:O
That Bugeye looks very much like mine, just without the Sti wing. Let me know if you ever want to swap trunks for a Sti wing.
